What's everyone's favorite Duke basketball uniforms of all time?

My favorites are the late-90's unis with the "traditional" white and blue unis and the alternate black uniforms.

Definitely prefer those blue and white ones over the current ones. They looked more sleek

The ones we wear when we win games, especially championships.

I like 'em all. Except the ones from this year. The smaller Duke looked kind of weird and I miss the ball plus hoop on the shorts. I'd probably go with the 04-05 ones as my favorite overall.

The black jerseys definitely hit their prime in the 04ish to 08 years with the name in white on the back. 2567

Word to the OP.

Mine are the ones that are our actual dang school colors.

Championships are not caused by uniforms.

Just the traditional black with Duke Purple trim, for me. :p

Anything from the 90s, except for that alleged year between 1994 and 1996 for which I have no proof of ever having taken place.

This includes the black ones, which I didn't mind. It was the blue uniforms' fault we lost the 1999 championship game.

The ones from the early nineties. You know, when players wore shorts, unlike today. I blame the advent of "short pants" on the crowd from Michigan.

Agreed

Call me an old fart, but I still rue the day that black was introduced, and would note that of the traditional Top 6 programs - Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana and UCLA - we are the only ones who have incorporated black in a meaningful way or make a regular practice of wearing our "alternative uniforms".

Agreed. I don't like the black. I love the old blue with the white trim.

I love the black. I just want it the way we had it from 2000-2004: home jerseys white and blue, road jerseys blue and white, and the alternate being the only time we see black. And never wear the blacks when we play UNC.

until this year, we hadn't won at UNC wearing the blue jerseys since...2004? Come to think of it, our record in the Dean Dome has been abysmal since we got the blue/black regular away jerseys. Bring back the blue and whites!

Fun facts of the day.

Didn't care for these jerserys, complete with the "We aren't gonna win crap" commemorative stripes over the shoulders.

That's right...that's our first time winning in the blue/black at the Dean Dome. In 2004 (my senior year), we had on blue/white:

Pretty sure we wore black at unc least once in that time period. Want to say it was 2000.

We wore the black alternates in Chapel Hill in 2001 and 2003, the latter trek, of course, being the infamous Chris Collins-Matt Doherty donnybrook game. Speaking of which, boy do I ever miss the days of the early Sunday afternoon encounters. That was the rivalry at its finest.

The "purple" Chris Duhon era road jerseys were jaw-droppingly pretty.

Yea, 01 and 03 we wore them. The 2000-2004 part referred to the jerseys themselves that I enjoyed and not my wish that we always wear Duke Blue at CH.

Your memory is really bad on this one. Duke has owned the Nose Dome since 1999.

Duke Wins: (9)
1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012

Duke Losses: (5)
2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011

That's 9 out of 14, and UNC has not won 2 in a row at home against Duke since 1998, while Duke won 4 in a row at Chapel Hill. (Everyone remembers Hansbro winning 4 in a row in CIS, but no one ever remembers the Duke success at the dome)

They never should have left Carmichael. But they needed a bigger wine cellar, so . . .

I guess we should be referring to that dome as the K mart.

I was referring specifically to when we wore the main blue/black road unis. What year did we switch to those ones? I know we wore the old school blue/white ones in 2004, but I don't know when we dropped those ones for good.

In the wins since 1999:
-00, 01, 06, 08, 10, we wore black alternates.
-04 we wore blue/white.
-12 wore blue/black regular roads. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this may have been the only year we've won in CHill wearing those. It's the only time I can remember.

In the losses:
-05, 07, 09, 11 wore blues/black regular road. 03 wore black alternate.

Can't find what we wore in 1999 or 2002.

Uniform doesn't matter, but I dunno, it's a cool random fact to look at in the offseason.

These threads always end up the same. Everyone always likes the late-90's, non black trim unis. Will someone please step up and tell us that they like the mid-90s chevrons, or the current black trim? Hello, anyone? anyone?

And, yes, I appreciate the guy that said he liked the gray unis. They were hideous, but way to take a stand.

Yeah, but when did black become one of our official school colors?

"We'll fight for the Blue and White
.Whose colors we unfold.
.To he11 with Carolina!"

Now where does the black come from? Are we... ugh, the twerps? Oh, yeah, black is one of their many colors. http://crazietalk.net/ourhouse/images/smilies/happy/bouncyblue.gif

To address the various issues:

1. We wore blue in 1999 and black in 2000 and 2002 in the Dean Dump.

2. I prefer the Chevrons to our current home and roads (and I hate the Chevrons) ONLY because they were Duke Blue and White.
3. We wear black because K came up with the idea along with Nike (allegedly). They were to be introduced for the 1995-1996 season, but due to everything that happened in 1994-1995 (again, see the Chevrons), they were supposedly delayed for a year. In part, black had become a very cool color by the mid-90s and new pro teams were incorporating the color as part of their original color schemes; also, K has said in the past that the black projected toughness and that was why it was introduced.

Again, using black on rare occasions, and not in Chapel Hell, would be fine, if limited to that purpose. And as long has NO black were on the home and road uniforms. The original black uniforms with the white trim on the neckline, armholes, and waistband, were by far the best and perfectly matched the home and road jerseys.

Doesn't matter to me. The black are the best looking ones imo. My sisters both refer to them as "The sexy uniforms"
