Though more often than not it didn't happen in the year that they won the award...

Of course, they also all stayed for four years...

It's amazing to think about actually: 61% of Freshman classes at Duke since Coach K took over have appeared in at least one national championship game. (counting '81 - '08)

True, but two out of the five appeared in the championship game as freshmen, and none of them did as seniors.

According to the article on the ACC website, Austin is only the second unanimous selection as rookie of the year (the other one attended some school down the road).

I know this isn't the strongest ACC freshman class ever, but being a unanimous choice is still an impressive accomplishment. Kudos to Austin!

My prediction/fantasy is that this one appears in two national championship games--this year and next year! (I'm apparently channeling Ozzie) ;)

Congratulations to Austin on this well deserved honor. His leadership, confidence, skill set and the swagger he brings for every game, is awarded with ACC Rookie of the Year.

Is there any way to bottle Austin's confidence and swagger and sprinkle it around? Like pixie dust!

Thanks for posting, and hopefully more awards to come to Austin and Duke over the weekend! Let's Go Duke!
