1) What were the students saying when Coach K told them to stop?

2) What was with the two students forcibly pulled out at halftime?

(1) The old stand by for a product of a body function.... a four letter word also injected in one of the fight songs.

(2) My impression was that it was public drunkenness which may have endangered themselves or those around them.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the couple seated at the rail who behaved in such as way that they had to be escorted out by the police and security personnel.

It's unfortunate that events like these happened. I've been to many Duke - Carolina games over the years. I'm having trouble remembering a game at Cameron with as much animosity and unsportsmanlike behavior among the fans as this one...... a contrast to how the teams were able to play without such incident.

I didn't see those two being escorted out, though my wife did. Not sure what they did.

I also can't ever remember multiple people being escorted out before. I was sitting next to a rather obnoxious UNC fan, for what it's worth. Duke-UNC football is a little different! Seems in recent years there's been a convoy of people being escorted out of the football stadium.

Actually, along those lines, I vaguely remember reading here that the ticket office liked to know if ticket holders never showed up. I have no idea who sits in the two seats next to us in Cameron in recent years--always different people, and quite frequently not Duke fans. There was an obnoxious UNC fan attending last night--other than jiggling his legs and rocking back and forth during the entire game, nothing particularly egregious other than jumping up screaming and yelling and smack talking during every Carolina possession. Nothing that couldn't be countered with some loud Duke cheering (though obviously and unfortunately the first half was a little lopsided that way).

So, does the ticket office care? Seems a real shame that genuine Duke fans can't get the tickets rather than someone who just sells them.

It's not the ticket office that would take action against ticket holders who sell their tickets and create problems, it's the Iron Duke office. Information about that policy is sent out with each set of season tickets. If there is a problem, contact the Iron Duke office, not the ticket office.

Agree, Iron Duke office should be able to handle this with an Iron Fist. Keep Blue Devils in the seats, especially for UNC!

Maybe the ID office SHOULD be able to handle this (keeping UNC fans out of Duke seats) but they don't. Mark it....there will be UNC fans sitting in Duke seats this week at the ACC tournament.

I agree with your sentiments, but they are nice thoughts unlikely to result in the hoped for action.

The mission of Iron Dukes is to raise money for Duke athletics. Those laying out sizable sums for tickets, often ten grand or more, do so for many and varied reasons. Many are not prototypical diehard Duke fans; they may own businesses, e.g., and may frequently give Duke tickets to friends and customers who ain't exactly cheering for Dear Old Duke. Their view is that they paid a huge sum for tickets, and the tickets are theirs to use as they wish.

In reponse to such heresies uttered by Iron Duke supporters, the Iron Dukes office will say very clearly, "Humma, humma, humma."

I suspect the process of taking any sort of action must first begin with a complaint from another Iron Duke.

Say it brother. It's been a "real" treat dealing with the ID office. I always end up feeling pretty invisible. And I purely hate the seats I get at the ACC tourney.
We end up seat surfing and for that kind of money, I think that's a darned gyp.
