After the NCAA did something helpful to the students - allowing students to sign multiyear scholarships - the member schools are voting to override (http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/ncaa-schools-voting-on-whether-to-allow-multiyear-scholarships/2012/02/11/gIQAWP8PER_story.html)it and return to only single year grants.

Maryland ("to stay competitive"), State, and FSU have all signed kids to multiyear scholarships.

VaTech wants to override the rule.

Nice to see hypocrisy still reigns throughout the NCAA.

If you go to multi-year contracts don't you have to look at establishing transfer limitations to make the equation equal?

Sauce for the goose and all that.

I think schools already hold a strong hand on transfers. As I recall, the current AD has to give permission for another school to contact a player. Without this permission the student has to skip a year of grant and participation.

Yes, a very strong hand. They can also dicate which schools a student can't transfer to for arbitrary reasoning like spite and jealously (see Randy Edsall, Danny O'Brien, and Vanderbilt).
