Betty is survived by her son, David Long, who was a student manager in 1964, and his children, who are regulars in Cameron still, and will be, we’re sure, even if Duke falls back to mediocrity. When you get Duke, when you really get it, it’s impossible to conceive of pulling for anyone else.
That, along with a great deal more, is the legacy of Betty Long and that small group who kept the fire burning when no one really cared.
R.I.P Betty. I'm sorry I didn't know you, and the others from "back in the day", but I'm proud to be one of the "small group" referred to by Julio since the early 70's.
