The DBR difference. We're nothing if not total losers for polls!

Austin is at 70%, this poll is a done deal.

Get on the ESPN Best of the Best poll everyday! Let's keep Austin's shot as the top play as long as we can! I'd love to see it go down in the hall of fame. It's currently ahead of a Monster slam by Blake Griffin right now.
That is a shot we will see for year and YEARS to come, decades really. Incredible stuff.

Sorry, but I can't help but chime in here. For me, "The Shot" can only be used to refer to a certain turn-around jumper taken in 1992. I don't think it was very important. Can't even remember the guy who took it or who we were playing against. But it was just a really, really pretty-looking shot. Must be why they always show it in montages.

Yes, but to be fair, this shot came against UNC.

Currently Knicks' Lin 59%, Duke's Austin 41%.

I dont see how Lin's shot is better than Rivers...Not because Im a Duke fan, but because Lin had nothing to lose, the game was tied.

True, true. But --

Greatest shot in the Duke-UNC rivalry* < Greatest shot in NCAA history**

To be honest, it almost surprises me as a historical coincidence that these two shots didn't end up actually being the same shot. I suppose that could still change.

*I fully realize that this title is debatable.
**I fully realize that this one is not.

Is it? There have been more difficult last-second shots in the series, but none that took a team from losing to winning, or even from tied to winning.

True, but only because the three point shot didn't exist in the ACC before 1982.

True, but only because the three point shot didn't exist in the ACC before 1982.

But you don't need a 3-point line to hit a game-winning buzzer beater. Teams before then could have taken a two-point shot (when tied or down by one) at the buzzer and made it.
