"Duke sophomore guard Chelsea Gray has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Blue Devil teammate Elizabeth Williams repeated as the Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 22.

In earning her second weekly honor of the season, Gray averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds in last week’s action. The Stockton, Calif., native closed the weekend with her third double-double of the season with a season-high 17 points and 11 assists against the eighth-ranked Terrapins. Gray also pulled down five rebounds and had one steal in 36 minutes. She scored seven points over the final 2:56 of the contest to help seal the 80-72 victory for Duke, which won its school-record 34th straight overall game in Cameron and 26th consecutive ACC home contest. In a key road contest at Georgia Tech, Gray totaled a then season-high 16 points, four assists, four rebounds and two steals. Gray hit 2-of-4 treys and 5-of-6 free throws on the week, while posting a 15-5 assist-to-turnover ratio. Gray has notched three games this season with 10 or more assists.

Williams, who earned her third straight ACC Freshman of the Week honor and her sixth overall, averaged 18.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals in the two Duke wins. With her seven blocks on the week, the Virginia Beach, Va., center now owns 68 for the year, which ties the Duke freshman single-season blocks record and ranks tied for fourth on the ACC list. At Georgia Tech, Williams collected 20 points, 11 rebounds, five blocks, two steals and one assist in 35 minutes. It was her fourth double-double of the season and the third game with 20 or more points this season. She hit 8-of-15 field goals in the contest. Williams closed the weekend with 16 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, two assists and one steal vs. Maryland. Both blocks came in the final 10 minutes of the contest as Duke was able to hold on to an 80-72 victory. In the game against the Terrapins, Williams had zero turnovers in 38 minutes of action. For the week, Williams hit 8-of-10 free throws."

Correct Title to this post: "Gray wins Player of Week and the Williams wins again as Rookie of the Week...yawn." As someone else pointed out, it's news at this point only when she DOESNT win Rookie of the Week.

Congrats to both of them of course.
