We have really been enjoying Coach Capel's radio show after each game, following the locker room report. The questions arrive via Twitter (no Elwood!), and Capel gives excellent, informative answers with a minimum of coach-speak. He has told a lot of good stories on the show, and painted an interesting, detailed picture of things that go on at practices, half-time, etc. I highly recommend listening. We get the show on 620 AM as we drive from Durham back to Raleigh.

I have to say that listening to Capel has made me think he would be an excellent coach for Duke University...someday. ;)

People used to say the same thing when Johnny Dawkins had a post-game segment...at least we have options! ;)

IMO, Jeff has Johnny beat on the post-game show---Jeff's delivery is much better/voice is easier to understand and seems that his answers are more direct than Johnny's ever were. I always thought Johnny's responses were excellent examples of "coachspeak"...again, just my opinion.

Not sure if the record them or not Silky. I will find out and let you know. Tonight was a good one. Said the defense on the whole is improving, and they are real pleased with how well the team is defending the 3 point line, but still need work with on ball defense and keeping guys in front.

Also spoke on Austin not starting, and how the staff chooses starters. Has zero to do with the opponent and matchup. 100% about recent practices and games. Andre is the leading scorer in conference play and Austin has been struggling a bit in conference play. Mentioned that sometimes not starting serves as a wakeup call. Was pleased that both Ryan and Austin responded tonight with strong games and Austin led the team in minutes played tonight.

Light practice tomorrow with review of tape from tonights game, review of FSU tape, then a walk through with no contact. Wojo scouted FSU and prepared the staff for the game plan.

Those were the key highlights I remember.

Oh absolutely agreed on all counts (although Johnny wasn't hard to understand IMO he just had a soft-spoken voice). Just pointing out that this exact conversation has happened before with another assistant.

I will say that having been a former head coach, Jeff may have been given or feel more comfortable taking a little more liberty with his comments and the information he shares, Johnny had not coached a team of his own before and may have been more concerned about overstepping and sharing something he shouldn't. Just a thought, no idea if there is any merit to that.

Thanks to @DukeRadio for answering this question!

"GoDuke.com archives each show on their main game story page after the broadcast ends. You could listen there."

Thank you! For those who don't know what the "main game story page" is, its access by going here (http://www.goduke.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=4200&SPID=1845&SPSID=22726) and then clicking on the score link next to each game. So for Wake, click on the link that says 91 - 73 (W) (http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=1845&DB_OEM_ID=4200&ATCLID=205364926), and then look at the related links section on the right.

Thanks again.
