Nice story on Nolan being mentored by Felton in Portland. Duke - carolina is Duke - carolina, but the pros is the pros and business is business. My only question is why does Raymond think it will be 5 to 7 years before Nolan takes the keys from him?

Hopefully after a 5-7 years, when I'm past my prime, I can step down and give the keys to him.

Because all professional athletes are wishful thinkers when it comes to their own careers? ;)

That being said, it was a very nice article, and it sounds like Portland has a couple of point guards with their heads and attitudes on straight.

Not to mention Felton, who's at least fairly talented.

At least this former UNC point guard is still permitted to drive.

Alas, I commend Mr. Smith for his shrewdness.

And rotund.

Hollinger: (http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft2011/insider/columns/story?columnist=hollinger_john&page=draftbreakdown-110624)"Portland gets eight years younger at the point guard spot, although Felton looked very heavy by the end of last season and really needs to get that potbelly under control if he's going to continue playing at his current level."

Did anyone notice that Nolan logged the same number of minutes (12) for the Blazers as another ex-Dukie, Elliott Williams?

I did. Elliott got a few more points, though. ;)

Perhaps more significantly, he got 3 times as many minutes as Armond Johnson, who is apparently his competition for a backup spot (or maybe, with the addition of Jamal Crawford, a backup backup spot would be more accurate). Of course, in a preseason game that doesn't necessarily mean much.

Duke-Carolina is Duke-Carolina, but the pros is the pros and business is business.

This is one of the most tautological sentences I have ever seen.

Perhaps, but at least please quote me correctly and don't let your spell checker mess with what I post. Note the corrections I made above and compare to what you had in your post. Never capitalize the "c" in carolina. It's a sign of disrespect!

You're 100% right! Your way is vastly superior.

Sounds like Ray Ray knows he's getting older. Do you hear those footsteps?
