Please read this carefully and see if your elected criminal representative is supporting it. And while you are looking, remember that Congress will certainly exempt itself from this law, just as they have exempted themselves from Social Security, insider trading and slander while speaking on the floor of the House or Senate. It’s time – past time indeed – for them to live by the same laws they set for the rest of us.

With all do respect to the DBR, stick to basketball and leave politics alone. Congress members are not exempt from Social Security tax. The legality of Congressional insider trading is apparently questionable. The immunity from slander on the floor is from Article 1 Section 6 of the Constitution.

Agreed re: the harshness of DBR's rhetoric and poor additional examples of congressional overreach; however, the Stop Online Piracy Act (http://judiciary.house.gov/hearings/pdf/112%20HR%203261.pdf) (SOPA) is an abomination and really should be stopped.

Some fictions (Congress doesn't pay Social Security taxes) are passed off as fact in crazy chain emails.

Other fictions (Bakery-awarded national championships are legit) are passed off as fact in rafters.

Yeah, I have enough time keeping up with the rantings of gullible relatives. I had hoped stuff like that wouldn't surface here - it reflects badly on Duke to be represented here by those providing an uncritical echo chamber of internet memes and shoddy journalism.

This has nothing to do with Duke or basket ball. Find another forum. We come here for a break from all this junk.

Many of us don't shy away from a good political debate. This entry on the main board just seems odd and out of place. Can someone in management explain why this appeared on the main board?

The mods of the board really don't have any say on what gets posted on the main page. We just try to keep things under control here on the boards.

You may not shy away from a good political debate (frankly, I don't either; I'm in the thick of it: my wife works for the Senate), but we don't want debates going in that direction on the board.

Edit: you can contact the main page authors here (http://www.dukebasketballreport.com/contact/) with your concerns.
