Walt died last night at 69. Here's a link to the LAT article. (http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketball/nba/lakers/la-me-walt-hazzard-20111119,0,4439301.story?track=rss)

He was one of the Bruins starting guards in the 1964 national championship game against Duke, a win that started John Wooden's remarkable run. He later played for the Lakers and had a 10 year NBA career.

A good guy. A grand opponent.

Peace, Walt.

Hazzard had 11 points and 8 assists in the title win against Duke.

I've always thought that he and Gail Goodrich that year comprised arguably the best backcourt in college history.

I would agree with you. Outstanding quickness and excellent court vision by both of them.
