Happy Halloween all! I just read the rumors that Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian are headed for divorce. I wonder, which lasted longer, Kris'
commitment to Duke or to Kim?

Huh?

Will someone fill me in on the tweet Dave Telep wrote about the infamous in-home visit with Humphries??

Kardashian/Humphries marriage lastly slightly longer than his commitment to Duke. Infamous home visit led to Duke backing off him.

I believe it was basically Kris and his dad saying they wanted guaranteed playing time for Kris and to be a starter his freshman year. Coach K said something to the effect that playing time isn't given, it's earned. His goal was pretty clearly to get to the NBA as soon as possible. So, based on that, they parted ways. Coach K let him spin it however he wanted though and he simply ended up saying that he decided to go down a different path and Minnesota was a better fit (he was clearly going to be a starter there, so I guess it was a better fit based on his goals)....

I'm hearing Kim told him the same thing.

I wonder if Kartrashian will try to keep that huge ring?

It was probably just a rental anyway to advance the whole marriage publicity stunt.

Not sure which lasted longer, but I'm pretty 4 years of Duke (even without a scholly) costs a whole lot less than 2 months of Kardashian...

Imagine, not only unemployed, but also dumped! It couldn't happen to a nicer recruit.

This whole thing brings back unpleasant memories of a time when we were expecting great things from Sean Livingston, Kris Humphries, and Luol Deng, and only got the last one for one season.

The Washington Post has a pretty funny post:

But are the parties mutually being released from their Letter of Int... er prenup?

Kim had to have lasted longer- Kris never even came to Duke.

Just saw the US Weekly at the grocery store. Apparently Kim told Kris to get to work and stop mooching. What does she do exactly?

She should date Rashad McCants next, if she wants to keep the basketball theme up.

My inner Lenny Bruce is having difficulty resisting such a straight line.

Actually, it was probably a profitable couple of months for Kris, although many might disagree whether it was worth it. Kind of the antithesis of the starship Enterprise: To go where so many men have gone before!

He can be the poster child for the NBAPA, look how desperate these guys are for money! Look at what they are willing to do!

Well, she is a professional celebrity. :D As ridiculous as that sounds, though, it is nice work if you can get it. She and her sisters have a "reality show" which I'm sure they are paid handsomely for, as well as a clothing line with their name on it, sold at Sears. And while I don't know if the Kardashians have this deal, many celebs get paid to show up at various clubs, restaurants, and product PR events (certainly Paris Hilton, among others, made a pile of money that way).

And to think she owes it all to O.J. Simpson.....

I am still on track to be married to Kim between March 22 and May 8, 2014.

Does that leave enough room to still marry Erin Andrews in the meantime and PLEASE no theme dressing at the KK-h43 nuptials!

They made $65 million in 2010:

if he was dumb enough to pay for that ring with his own money then he deserves to lose it. pretty sure kim bot the ring.

I credit the Kardashian Effect for Kris's above average season last year. I am sure that post-divorce he will play more like me again.

What if she started dating Derrick Rose? Would he average 30 and 20?

http://beyondthearc.nbcsports.com/2011/09/21/kris-humphries-an-absolute-jerk-ex-kansas-knew-that/

'Writers Jason King and Jesse Newell spoke to nearly 40 players and both head coaches, Bill Self and Roy Williams.

The result? Stuff like this from former player Keith Langford:

“Kris Humphries came on a visit and tried to commit. He really wanted to come here. But no one on the team liked Kris Humphries. He was arrogant. He told everyone he was going to come in and be the leading scorer as a freshman and that we’d all have to take a backseat to him. We were trying to be respectful and not say anything. But he was an absolute jerk. It was tough, because Roy was really excited about him. Kris Humphries was a big deal. He was a one-and-done or a two-and-done kind of player. Roy wanted him to commit on his visit. But we told him, ‘Coach, you can’t bring this guy in. You can’t do it.’ You’d figure Roy would say something like, ‘Let’s work on him,’ or ‘Let’s give him another chance.’ Instead he told Humphries, ‘Sorry, but you can’t come.’ Bill Self did the same thing years later with Terrence Williams.”'

Watching the little bit of the Keeping Up program I could stand among channel surfing, Humphries complaining about his wife to be as controlling, the arguments, before the cameras, it seemed clear these two were not remotely compatible. Poor choice on his part. But, then, he backed out on a chance to play for Coach K, as well.

Publicity stunt?

Maybe just a straight business deal. According to this morning's Washington Post (which credits the story to the New York Post), the wedding cost $10 million--but it generated more than $17 million of income for Kim and Kris from broadcast rights, etc.

Even by NBA standards, a $7 million net for 72 days is pretty good pay.

72 days may not seem very long unless you spent 72 days married to Kim Kardashian.

Minus state, federal and other income/income-related taxes and then a 50/50 split after the divorce and legal fees...

Still, not chump change, but would it be worth being married to a Kardashian for that price? Shoot, would it be worth being married to Humphries for that price?

Kim Kardashian may be many things, but I think it is grossly unfair to label her as a "porn star" as the lead page says she is.

I assumed the issue was with the term "star" rather than "porn."

Not that I really care to defend Kim Kardashian, but wasn't it a private video that was stolen and released without her consent? Or am I confusing famous for being famous, born into privelage celebrities?

I was less bothered by the "porn star" reference as I was by the use of "celebutard," which I can only assume was supposed to be a mix of the words "celebrity" and "retard."

I've also heard celebutante. I think we voted on it in some category at Words of the Year at the American Dialect Society meeting a couple years ago. I don't remember which category though. I'm going to guess "least useful."

Dang, them Kardashians are tough on hoopsters!

"After months of speculation, Khloe is ending her four-year marriage to Lamar Odom."
