Apparently Cunningham and Kevin White might not be on the best of terms. The story around Notre Dame is that Cunningham was under consideration for the Duke AD position and asked White for a reference. White instead took the opportunity to tout his own credentials for the job instead. This should help spice up the rivalry even more.

Who would want to have their friends call you Bubba? He may be a good choice, but Bubba Cunningham. I thought it was a misprint,

I'm flabergasted that the new AD UNC hired to to clean up its mess was running the Ball State athletic program when they were put on probation and cited by the NCAA for lack of institutional control.

10 different sports were involved in the Ball State scandal during Bubba's tenure. The NCAA found LOIC because the school's administration knew of violations and didn't correct or report them:
