Just like in real life -- the Carolina guy worked for the Duke guy (at Notre Dame) --

From Kevin White's bio--

Given his background and success, it is not surprising that 20 current or former directors of athletics were mentored by White. That impressive list includes Jim Sterk of Washington State and San Diego State, Tom Boeh of Ohio University and Fresno State, Ian McCaw of Northeastern, Massachusetts and Baylor, Bruce Van De Velde of Utah State, Iowa State and Louisiana Tech, Herman Frazier previously of Hawaii, Rudy Keeling formerly of Emerson and now commissioner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), Scott Devine of St. Mary's College (Md.), Tom Collins of Ball State, Tim Van Alstine of Western Illinois, Mark Wilson of Tennessee Tech, Bubba Cunningham of Ball State and Tulsa, Sandy Barbour (who followed him at Tulane) of California-Berkeley, Jim Phillips of Northern Illinois and Northwestern, Bernard Muir of Georgetown and Delaware, Sandy Hatfield Clubb of Drake, Vic Cegles of Long Beach State, Norwood Teague of Virginia Commonwealth, Bob Bierie previously of Loras College, Greg Capell previously of Loras College, and Boo Corrigan of Army.

Great observation Sage! LOL! :D

I would have thought that might have been an 'automatic disqualifier' the way things go over at the Hump...

So UNC now has "Bubba" and "Ol'Roy" running their athletic department. Nice.:D

On a serious note, probably a good hire for the Dark Side.

Hm. I wonder if Ol'Roy considers the football violations a disaster since it's his athletic department

Apparently Cunningham and Kevin White might not be on the best of terms. The story around Notre Dame is that Cunningham was under consideration for the Duke AD position and asked White for a reference. White instead took the opportunity to tout his own credentials for the job instead. This should help spice up the rivalry even more.

Who would want to have their friends call you Bubba? He may be a good choice, but Bubba Cunningham. I thought it was a misprint,

I'm flabergasted that the new AD UNC hired to to clean up its mess was running the Ball State athletic program when they were put on probation and cited by the NCAA for lack of institutional control.

10 different sports were involved in the Ball State scandal during Bubba's tenure. The NCAA found LOIC because the school's administration knew of violations and didn't correct or report them:

This is the guy who is going to straight out the crooked programin Chapel Hill?
