From VT press release.

"Virginia Tech men’s basketball guard Marquis Rankin had surgery on his left knee on Thursday morning.

Rankin, a freshman from Charlotte, N.C., injured the knee during preseason drills. The surgery was performed by team orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Marc Siegel at Lewis Gale Hospital at Montgomery in Blacksburg, Va.

The surgery was to clean up cartilage in the knee. Rankin is likely to miss the next six to eight weeks. He will be continuously evaluated by the Virginia Tech Sports Medicine staff. The Hokies open practice on Oct. 14 and open the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 12 against East Tennessee State at 2 p.m., in Cassell Coliseum."

Thanks, Jim.

Sounds similar to the procedure Kyle had done before his senior year.

Hopefully the kid recovers and is able to play. VA Tech has had more than its share of injuries lately.
