"Oklahoma or Texas or Florida or some other football-dominated hellhole south of the Mason-Dixon line."

OK, the essay primarily related to influence, bias, fairness, poverty, government, etc., but I just wanted to assert that--being from Oklahoma and having been raised in Texas--that they might appear to be hellholes judging from the flames and heat that are on the news, but there os something nice about watching college football teams that generally perform at a level that is reminiscent of, well, Duke basketball.

I don't think the phrase is commenting on the region in general, but by the fact that the area is wrought with the best football teams in the country....sort of akin to if you go down there to play football, you'll get spat back out by the preponderance of very good football teams

despite the outcome, that was decent football team out there today. we played with one of the best teams in the country for about 28 minutes......for almost an entire half we went head to head with them.....and they're likely the best team we'll face all year

guess i'm moving towards the Ozzie paradigm!
I approve of your new signature!
