Best of luck to JD with his contract extension:

Dawkins went 20-14 in 2009, 14-18 in 2010 and 15-16 in 2011.

He did not have a senior on last year's team but has two promising rising sophs in Anthony Powell (9 ppg) and Dwight Powell (8 ppg).

The PAC-10 has been pretty weak the past few years so if Dawkins is going to make his mark and have them be a top 3 team in the conference and a perennial NCAA team...now is the time to do it.

While I am glad Johnny got an extension, the general belief is that this was done to avoid questions about JD's future that could affect recruiting. We all know that when a coach is on the final year of a deal and has not had a good run, his recruiting falls off the cliff with recruits thinking he might not be there when they come to campus. Stanford wants to avoid this so they give Johnny an extension.

But, and I hate to say this, if Stanford does not get back to the tourney and the top of the Pac Ten the next season or two, Johnny won't get to finish the extension, I fear.

Johnny has a plan, involving sleepers.
