Apparently, the Minnesota TWolves wasted a 2nd round draft pick on a guy who was not eligible for the NBA Draft because he is too old (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Age-controversy-over-Wolves-8217-second-round-?urn=nba-wp5562).
Tanguy Ngombo lied to the NBA and listed his age as 21. A simple Google search reveals a number of websites that clarify his age to 26, which would make him too old to enter the draft as an international player and simply makes him a free agent. But, apparently Minnesota does not bother to do even a cursory google search before drafting a kid.
The consensus is that Ngombo is not much of a prospect anyway. He put up moderate numbers playing in the Qatar league, but he is said to be an elite athlete who needs more skills and seasoning to go with his freak athleticism. When Minny thought he was a 21 year old, that may have been tempting. As a 26 year old... not so much.
Of course, Minnesota GM David Khan is known for doing insane things in the draft. His legend grows!
