Rice is Andre Sweet's alma mater (http://www.newyorkgauchos.com/component/k2/item/269-andre-sweet). So there's a connection.

I'm pretty sure Kemba Walker and Momo Jones went there too, huh? This is a huge blow to new york hoops.

This school has existed for many years in an area which needs good schools, schools which educate young men who might not be able to find caring, dedicated mentors in big, one-size-fits-all high schools. While many "big" basketball names have graduated from Rice, I am sure many more have benefited from playing organized sports in its strong academic environment also dedicated to building character.

I'd like to think fans of Duke basketball would appreciate what a place like Rice has contributed to the development of high school and college basketball players.

In 10 years, their endowment went from $3 million to $140,000. Their enrollment has dropped 44% in 8 years. In a decade, they had 5 school heads.

On the surface, that's gross mismanagement and potentially criminal.

To bring it back to Duke, the surface description reminds me of the basketball program at UConn.

WOW...that's incredible....for a school to fall like that, I think the administration must have been trying to milk the basketball stars for money or something....
