So... it must be the off season, because I'm actually looking at recruiting stuff, and those of you who know me IRL, know that I don't normally following anything about recruiting. Anyway, I'm poking around the interwebs, and I run across this video on Five Star Basketball:

So I google Stokes and see that ESPN says Duke is in on him now, and in the search for a 2012 big man, he could be a great fit. Apparently he's blowing up this spring, and after watching this highlight, I'm definitely intrigued... SEND IT IN BIG FELLA! (http://www.fivestarbasketball.com/videos/05-05-2011-play-of-the-day-jarnell-stokes-1) (Well... kinda big fella...) Sweet pump fake and drive too.

Anyway, who's heard about this kid? Airowe? Beuller?

This site also had some profiles of a number of our commits and targets (http://www.fivestarbasketball.com/players)

Alright... that's my yearly contribution to the recruiting stuff. Carry on.

Watch, when he dunks it, the rim looks like its about 9ft instead of 10!

ESPN has us considering Torian Graham as well. You hear that also, airowe?

Torian lists us, but he is not being recruited like the other guys. He's very similar to Rasheed.

Interestingly, Torian will spend (and has spent past offseasons) his offseason training at Duke as he is very close with Nolan and the DC Assault family.

Anyway you could count the number of cinder blocks (with mortar) in order to confirm this? :)

Not to put words in your mouth, but I'm glad to hear Nolan will be around this offseason.

He'll be a great influence on the incoming frosh. I would imagine he will play some summer league ball also, perhaps for the NBA team smart enough to draft him.

Andre Drummond?

He may be an UConn lean, but getting him would be huge.

As many bigs as it is in this class, K should land one easily.

The entire video looks like it has been squeezed vertically. That would explain why the rim looks 9ft.

A normal backboard has about a 9 to 5 ratio (width to height). At the moment of the dunk, the backboard appears to have about a 9 to 3.75 ratio.

10 ft times 3.75/5 is 7.5 feet.

Please confirm with appropriate cinder-analysis.

This kid is a beast. He already looks like an NBA player with his strength and athleticism. If we do miss out on the centers in this class I would be happy getting Stokes. Him and Marshall Plumlee would be an awesome combination of size, strength and athleticism.
