Personally, I am glad he is gone. I never did like his delivery. He inserted himself to much to be a play-by-play broadcaster.

I agree. Im not sure what it is that people enjoy about listening to him. He is so dramatic that you would think the tip off was a buzzer beater.

No diesrespect to him, but thank goodness. Never have liked his style. But I'm sure he will show up elsewhere and continue to assault my ears for years to come. Who wants to bet on ESPN?

Huh?

Exactly why people love listening to him.

The thing is that the game can be exciting without the announcer trying to make it exciting. I personally found him over the top, just like Vitale. On tv, just call the game with simplicity and directness. "Theres the pass to laettner" is much better than the yelling and screaming that you'd here from Gus Johnson in that situation.

Right because Bob didn't sound excited at all yelling "SCOOOOOOOOORES!!!"

Why do I need Gus Johnson (or anyone else for that matter) to tell me when to get excited? Not a fan. I feel like a lot of his hype is tied to Internet memes and Bill Simmons anyways.

That said, to each his own. I have a mute button, but those who like him don't have a Gus button.

A few years ago, I really liked Gus Johnson. He was always a little on the dramatic side but more recently he seemed to really go overboard in that area. When my otherwise unobservant wife comments about a sports broadcaster, I know something might not be right.
