From Press release.

"The Washington Mystics have acquired former Duke guard Jasmine Thomas from the Seattle Storm in a three-team trade General Manager and Head Coach Trudi Lacey announced today. Washington will also receive Seattle's 2012 first round pick and the Indiana Fever's 2012 third round pick. The Seattle Storm acquired guard Katie Smith, center Jacinta Monroe and Indiana's 2012 second round pick while the Fever received guard Erin Phillips and Seattle's 2012 third round pick.

"I am very pleased to have Jasmine join the Washington Mystics organization," said Lacey. "She is an athletic point guard who can pressure the ball and offensively can create her own shot. She is the ultimate team player and she will complement an already talented back court. We look forward to an exciting 2011 season."

A 5-9 guard from Duke University, Thomas was selected in the first round (12th overall) in this year's draft. She concluded a stellar collegiate season with numerous honors including 2010-11 ACC Tournament MVP, All-ACC First Team, All-ACC Defensive Team and Full Court Press ACC Player of the Year. She was also named to the 2011 All-ACC Academic Team. Thomas' career averages at Duke included 12.3 points, 3.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game. She is only the eighth player in Duke history to register over 1,000 points, 300 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals and one of only two players to ever post 100 or more steals in a single season.

Thomas joins three other former Duke Blue Devils - Alana Beard, Monique Currie and Karima Christmas - with the Mystics. Beard and Currie are current members of the Washington team, while Christmas was drafted No. 23 in the recent draft."

Too bad the Mystics traded Lindsey Harding recently....otherwise at times we might have seen five Blue Devils on the court for DC at one time!

Hmmmm, the Mystics' sibling team, the Wizards, are in the process of having their team colors revised and uniforms redesigned.....think the Mystics might change their own uniforms to Duke blue and white? ;)
