Looks like the 2-guard equivalent of the Nash camp that Paulus attended. Nice to see our players spreading out and working on their stuff. Doesn't hurt to be a nike school, i guess.

Best matchup was apparently Budinger vs. Henderson, who was described as "shredded" - haven't heard that one before, but it was complimentary, meaning he was real cut.

also a funny exchange in there between Henderson and Ellington. The Friendship has survived the Rivalry after year one.

Very promising article. It seems like Gerald has his confidence after what was a turbulent freshman year. I'm especially hopeful based on the fact that he was doing his thing against very good players. I can't wait to see him next year..

Mario Chalmers and Sherron Collins from Kansas (an adidas school) both went to Nash camp, so there's no Nike-only requirement. Darren Collison from UCLA was also there (also from an adidas school). Just a note.

Hope G got a chance to D up Kobe. That's as tough as it gets!

It's good to read that our players are really getting out there and finding every resource to improve. The list of 2-guards at Kobe's camp was pretty impressive. I think it's also a sign of the respect that Paulus gets that he was at Nash's PG camp. I just hope Zoubek is at the big man camp!

Invite only? I'm just thinking of why Scheyer/Demarcus wouldn't be at this camp. I'm guessing the coaching staff would say demarcus doesnt need to go, but scheyer could go, and I'd be surprised if G got invited and Scheyer didn't...then again maybe since they are playing in the Pan-Am tryouts the coaching staff didnt want them to go to either...either way, just looking for some insight on how these things work...

To answer your question Silky , Scheyer I know has attended the Vince Carter Skills Academy, and he and DeMarcus will be trying out for the Pan Am team soon. I want to say that the tryouts are in two weeks, but I'm not sure. Busy summer for our guys.

That seems a little weird...scheyer is definitely a shooting guard, not a wing forward, which is what the VC camp is for according to this link:

http://hoopsfuture.com/events/nike-skills-academy.html

How do you know scheyer is there?

ok...but again, does anyone know how these things work? Is it invite only?

Nike camps are invite only. They are usually for 10 college players and 20 HS players. Some players are considered the best player at that postion (usually the HS'ers); while others (like Gerald, Scheyer & Paulus) are considered to have high potential (specially if they get some specific position coaching). NBA scouts and college coaches can also register to attend.

So, who gets invited to the LeBron academy? Is it only guys who can play more than 4 positions on the floor? McBob should check that one out ;)

Reviewing these rosters, it looks like the Kobe camp may be the A-list SGs and the Carter camp may be some of the B-list SGs. Not to insult Scheyer, but Gerald appears to have more NBA potential at this time (as do the others at the Kobe camp).

Perhaps that means that the top WFs will be at Lebron's camp.

These camps are broken down by position (not skill level of the invites). These are places where young talent learn to play a specific position role. Vince is for WFs. Kobe is for SGs. Positions in HS & College are not as 'cut & dry' as they are in the pros.

Lebron's camp is new and it is not specific to player position. All positions can attend and the agenda has workshops for Points, Bigs & Wings.

The NBA player name is only the Brand Name of the camp. He will show up, give some speaches and help in a few workshops, but the event is run by trainers, teachers & coaches.

Getting invited to one camp doesn't trump the others.

It would be interesting to hear how Paulus did, particularly in the defensive drills with this group:

That may be the case, but looking at the roster for the Carter camp, one has to wonder where all the best college WFs are...

College Campers
No. Name Hgt. Wgt. Wingspan Class College
12 Jeremiah Rivers 6-4 205 Soph. Georgetown
14 Patrick Christopher 6-4 206.5 81” Soph. Cal
15 Courtney Lee 6-4 199 78” Senior Western Kentucky
25 Jon Scheyer 6-4.5 176 74.5” Soph. Duke
32 Will Daniels 6-6 246 80.5” Senior Rhode Island
33 K.C. Rivers 6-3 219.5 79.5” Junior Clemson
34 Ahmad Nivens 6-8 234 83.5” Junior St. Joseph’s
36 Damion James 6-6.5 229 82.5” Soph. Texas
37 Geary Claxton 6-3.5 215.5 83” Junior Penn State
38 Jeff Adrien 6-5 241 84.5” Junior Connecticut
39 David Hoskins 6-4 248 80” Senior Kansas State
40 Raymar Morgan 6-7.5 228 81” Soph. Michigan State

Compare that list to the stars on the PG list, and it is puzzling. Maybe it is just a real down year for WFs (there were a lot on this year's draft).

Not to mention Scheyer ISN'T A WING FORWARD. He is a PURE shooting guard. If anything, gerald might be considered a WF, but there is no way scheyer is.

Anyone got the bronbron roster?

I'm not entirely sure that K.C. Rivers qualifies as a forward, either. Evidently some wiggle room here.
