Coach K took a step forward (relatively) in terms of winning percentage in the NCAA tournament. Three of his closest "competitors" lost in the first round (actually second round, but in their first game), Izzo/MSU, Pitino/Louisville and Lavin/St. Johns.

Lavin (#15) had had a remarkable 10-1 record in the first weekend of the tournament, and was 11-6 overall.

Izzo (#3) was 35-12, with 6 final fours in the last 13 years.

Pitino (#5) was 38-14, just cratered with a #4 seed, but actually did a great coaching job to get to that point.

ol' roy, Billy Donovan, Howland, Stevens (Butler), Fisher (SDSU), Self and Matta stand to improve their winning percentages with deep runs. My money is on Coach K to increase his lead :D

Calipari's record is always hard to figure, given that games get taken off the list several years after they're posted.

Even his asterisks have asterisks.

I've always considered him an asterisk.

Well, you give him too much credit...he is the asterisk without the "...terisk".
Just saying...

Izzo dropped two spots with that loss. After thursday's games the % leaders among active coaches are:

K .778 (77-22)
Roy .753 (55-18)
Donovan .742 (23-8, 1-0 in 2011)
Izzo .729 (35-13, 0-1 in 2011)
Pitino .717 (38-15, 0-1 in 2011)
Calhoun .710 (44-18; 1-0 in 2011)
Ben Howland .704 (19-8, 1-0 in 2011)
Brad Stevens .700 (7-3, 1-0 in 2011)
Self .694 (25-11)

You want asterisks? Steve Fisher's overall record is .690 (20-9) and non-vacated record is .667 (14-7). Apparently Calhoun had to vacate some games somewhere; the record above is non-vacated only.

K is 77 and 22.

That means that the game today will be his 100th NCAA tournament game. Yes?

Yes. 99 + 1 = 100. Are you asking something else?:)
