The incoming freshman class of Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith and Taylor King will be on campus shortly to start summer school. I recently learned of their numbers before any official release. Go here to see them (http://myblogdevils.eponym.com/blog/_archives/2007/6/28/3051775.html)

Great work once again by watzone. I've always enjoyed reading your stuff. As I recall, Josh McRoberts wore #2 during his time in Durham. Which other notable Devils wore 2, 12 and 20?

One of my favorite players from the past, Olympic Gold Medalist Tate Armstrong wore # 12.

Casey Sanders, Chris Collins and Gene Banks all wore #20
Not sure about #12, didn't Wojo wear it?
McRoberts wore #2, as did Luol Deng. What number did Roshawn McCleod wear? I feel like he might have worn #2 as well.

Notables - #2 Luol Deng, #12 Wojo, David Henderson, Thomas Hill, Vince Taylor, Tate, Tony Barone, #20 Chris Collins, Gene "Tinkerbell" Banks, Bernie Janicki.

#2 hasn't been worn a whole lot. The closest a former player worn number to retirement was Gene Banks, IMO. Had Deng stayed .... Janicki was a rebounding monster before my time.

McLeod wore #4.

That's right. I remember now why his number was distinctive to me: because I watched the 98 game at Cameron with UNC after JJ's jersey was retired

Isn't number 12 Jordan Davidson's number? What will his number be now?

I don't know, but Patrick Davidson's number was infinity plus one, wasn't it?

(Whoa this is an old thread, sorry I hadn't seen it!)

Ditto on Tate. He was a superb player who is seldom mentioned with the greats. Too bad he broke his wrist...was it '76? He and that team were on a roll until the injury. He was putting up some great numbers...JJ like.

Andre Buckner also wore #2 until he graduated and Luol matriculated the following school year.
