Tonight's win gives Duke 25 on the season, meaning that Duke has averaged exactly 30 wins per season over the last 14 seasons (starting with the 1997-98 season). With six more wins this year, we will have averaged 30 wins over the last 15 seasons. Chew on that statistic for a minute. Just incredible.

Thanks for looking that up. I was perusing the board recently and noticed the Singler stat/Nolan stat/K pursuit of RMK threads, but didn't see too much just in terms of general wins in the last few decades.

In addition to K just coaching in his 100th tournament game, I noticed earlier that Duke had finished at least .500 in the ACC every year since 1983 except for the Gaudet year.

Obviously, most years it wasn't even close - after a 7-7 '84 year, and then an 8-6 '85 year, Duke was 9-5 or better apart from 8-8 in '96 and 8-8 in '07.

Just another thing to add to the stunning decades of success of Coach Krzyzewski.

(Random aside - I hope they ask every incoming freshman if they can spell Coach K similar to the Hairston interview on that ESPNU series before the season :-))

In 1986, when Duke players were the darlings of the NCAA tournament, the Duke seniors (Alarie, Dawkins, Henderson, Bilas) were asked to spell Krzyzewski. All spelled it correctly except for Mark Alarie, who just said, "Coach K.". He got a good laugh from the fawning media.

Nowadays, with essentially the same high-quality student/athletes, all of them with great personalities, the media don't seem to appreciate our guys so much.;).

Timing must be everything. That and an understanding that riding on the Duke HateWagon sells.
