While the notion that Murphy may come a year earlier is certainly interesting, I think the article is worth reading for this line from the last paragraph:

As a tireless recruiter, you can bet Williams will explore and research any option that makes sense.

Wiederer may want to look up the definition for "tireless" and consider choosing a new word.

I find it interesting that Williams is willing to take a UConn reject. Is there any standards bar left at UNC at this point? Anything? Kid split UConn for lack of PT (I'm assuming) and is playing at Southern Idaho and now UNC is ready to pull him in because Drew split? The Carolina Way indeed...

is the contrast.

Duke is trying to get a top 25 player in a year early while UNC-CH is recruiting a JUCO who could not get PT at UConn.

It's probably an ok word choice, I don't think you can get tired while napping.

Gus, is that your cat in your avatar? I have a cat who looks EXACTLY like that cat.

That is all.

Wouldn't be too condescending about the kid being a JUCO... it wasn't that long ago that Duke recruited (and signed) a JUCO after all.

UCONN reject--that's another issue entirely!

Well, UCONN passed on recruiting Dave McClure so I'm not sure that says much. May be more a problem of Calhoun's judge of talent than Roy's.

But any port in a storm. Roy needs a back-up and I'm sure he'll go this route.

Darius Smith and Pierre Jackson...Im sure theyre wonderful individuals, but what is Roy thinking? Does their squad have any shooters? Between Strickland, Marshall, Bullock, and McDonald..none of them can shoot. They do have PJ Hairston coming in, but man, they need some shooters in that program in the worst way.

It was the UConn reject status that made him a JUCO.

Be careful with that!

News alert! WE have a former player playing for a JUCO (or NAIA squad - more appropiately).

(off topic)
from the link, talking about his freshman year at Duke:
"Set school record for bench points by a freshman with 27 points in a game against Eastern Kentucky"

It makes me sad for him. All that potential.

That there's talent at JUCO schools for anyone who chooses to knock them...

According to the linked website Concordia Univ. is an NAIA member. The real mystery here is just who are we talking about. Can someone come forward with that info?

I still don't see any relevance to the Taylor King situation, but let's move on.

You are so right.

FYI...Artis Gilmore began at Gardner Webb when it was JUCO, transferring after Soph year to Jacksonville and leading them to the NCAA final four.

World B. Free (Lloyd Free) and ML Carr led Guilford College to NIAA championship in 1973 and, in my opinion, that Guilford team would have been competitive on the floor with any team from the ACC in that same season. (this would include NC State or Maryland) Three starters on that Quaker team have NBA histories.

Never discount lower divisions, or do so at your own peril.
