As a PoliSci grad I found this fascinating.

Crosstab goodies:
At 41%, a plurality of NC voters say they have no opinion on the rivalry. 37% pick UNC and 22% pick Duke. I suppose a combination of State & Wake fans not wanting to pick the lesser of two evils (in their mind) and new residents who haven't picked a side yet.
There was no "bounce" in Duke's statewide popularity after winning the National Championship
K is more popular and more well known than Roy
Self-described "hardcore" basketball fans are most likely to also call themselves liberals
UNC fans give higher favorable numbers to K than Duke fans do to Roy
More women than men describe themselves as hardcore fans
African-Americans give K higher favorable numbers than Roy but are more likely to call themselves UNC fans
The 18-29 age group has the highest number of respondents who pick one side over the other in the rivalry - result of growing up in the ESPN generation?
If you had any doubt the Queen City was West Chapel Hill, Charlotte area codes are the most likely to be UNC fans
