Somewhat oddly for a game in which we dominated, we had 2 lineups that combined for +28 (37-9), and 14 that combined for -4 (39-43) (13 that combined to play State dead even if you discount the final couple of minutes with the walk-ons). So, on one hand, it's always great when you have a set of kids who can thoroughly dominate another team, but there's a little cause for concern when the rest of the squad struggles to the same extent. Thornton, Kelly, and Hairston all ended up with negative +/- numbers. We need to be able to extend our spurts to be more consistent throughout the game.

Individuals
Nolan Smith 71-38 (+33)

I wouldn't say we dominated the game. In fact, it makes perfect sense that some lineups did much better than others, considering that we opened up the majority of our lead during a single 21-2 lead in the first half. The rest of the time, it was a fairly even game- they even outscored us in the second half. But yes, Ryan didn't play a great game and that's reflected in the numbers- Howell seemed to get the better of him most of the time. Tyler's play didn't seem that bad to me, but he did have 3 TOs and no assists. I guess this was just one of those games where the faster, more athletic lineups did better.

From the play-by-play on goduke.com, it looks like the two lineups you're referring to were the same ones that were in for the entire 21-2 run. The rest of the first half wasn't too shabby either, as we outscored them 22-14. Looks like right after the big 21-2 run, we subbed Ryan for Kyle and Tyler for Nolan and then State scored 4 unanswered, after which K pulled Ryan, Tyler, and Miles in favor of Kyle, Nolan, and Mason. So, some strikes against Tyler and Ryan there. Over the rest of the half K only subbed Miles back in for Mason, and Josh for Miles at the end (State outscored us 3-2 while Josh was in).
