Duke attempted just ten threes in the SLU game. Six went in. Only three guys attempted one from behind the arc, Smith, Singler and Curry. (Dawkins did not).

This blew me away when I looked at the box score.

Anyone know of a resource that would tell us the last time Duke attempted ten or fewer threes in a game?

No idea, but according to kenpom.com, St. Louis is #1 in least 3 pointers attempted by opposing teams. So this was to be expected today. Of course, hitting 6 of them is pretty darn good.

And here at Duke, the so-called "Mustang Ranch of trey whores." (Eisen, 1997)

Our previous low this season was 12 attempted 3-pointers against Kansas State (we made six). Last season, our low was 12 3-pointers attempted. We went 1-12 against Boston College and 4-12 against Tulsa.

The last we attempted ten or fewer was on 11/13/2006 (http://goduke.statsgeek.com/basketball-m/games/boxscore.php?gameid=20061113) when we went 2-5 against Georgia Southern.

You the man, Bob.

That is crazy. So basically, it was our last semi-weak team against a weak opponent. Five attempts? Nuts.

I noticed in the first few minutes of the first half, it seemed like Duke wasn't even looking for a chance at a three. I wonder if that was intentional by Coach K to work on their inside game w/o Irving.

Maybe they were instructed to take what the defense was giving them. St. Louis obviously gears their defense toward stopping threes. That would leave the inside and midrange open.
