Several times during the Bradley game, the cameras showed a sign that said "BOSS" with his picture in the "O." Anyone have any info on this?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about a nickname, but you Crazies should be chanting "Yeah, three more Dawk!" and chomping on carrots, ala Bugs Bunny (Nyah, what's up Doc?), whenever he drains a 3. Guaranteed props from all.

I saw the BOSS sign too, but I'm not sure of its meaning.

I have heard the players say "Dre All Day" a lot, though. For instance, check out the post-game interview after the Bradley highlights here:

also, notice that the beat is taken from "forgot about dre" by dr. dre, though we aren't treated to a sample of dre's sweet sweet flow.

Awww come on! Are you telling me you can't see the correlation between Warner Brothers, basketball and gangsta rap? Lol!! (outside of perhaps a ridiculous 'Space Jam' reference)

I just prefer plain old Dre Day. That's what his twitter account name is so I'm guessing that is a nickname he likes. I don't see why we can't just oblige him. It's not like we have to give him a new nickname since he already has a perfectly good one.

I don't care what he is called as long as he will DRAin the 3's.

By the universal rule of nicknames one can try to pick one but it may not stick. A nickname sticks by consensus of your friends, or in the case of athletes, their fans. Someone who is admired may veto one if it starts to catch on but a nickname is only established if the crowd starts chanting it and it catches on from game to game.

Some people can pick their own, like Puffy/P-Diddy/Puff-Daddy, but that's pretty rare.

Back when I was in jr and sr high (60's) I picked up "Celtic" as a nickname because I was the only one around who wore black Chuck Taylors (Converse All Stars shoes) and the Celtics of those days wore them. Then somehow it morphed into "East Side", although we were in the west side suburbs of Cleveland. I'm not sure how that happened but I had no control over either.

Well Dre is a better shooter then Puffy is a rapper so I guess that settles it!

Ironic, seeing as Bradley's D "forgot about dre" several times, leaving him wide open. "All day Dre, all day. (clap, clap, clap)"

Starter? How about "All Conference!". Slack? What slack? There isn't any!
People, you ain't seen nothin' yet! This is the 'dre we knew was there all along, from early last year. I have been watching him all year shooting (and playing) great, waiting for the big breakout game, and now it's happened. You're going to see him have J.J. - like games on a routine basis now. There's plenty more where that came from!

Andres check list:

1. Provide a spark off the bench- Check
2. Play good hard nosed defense- Check
3. Be consistent from 3- Check
4. Improve driving ability-
5. Be more assertive-

I can't wait till Andre can consistenly do 4 and 5. He would be unstopable.

Like P-Diddy or whatever he's calling himself these days, Dre doesn't have to have just one nickname. Dre Day, All Day Dre, Baby Face, Baby Face Killa, Andre 3000, BOSS, etc. all sound pretty darn sweet to me.

Hey, what's the rush? We don't need him for a while anyway. This will help Seth and Andre step it up; if/when Kyrie comes back, the whole backcourt will be playing at a super high level. May be a blessing in disguise (see Casey Sanders play as a sub after Boozer's return in 2001).

I really like the Iceman and Maverick nicknames, but I think it's probably worth considering that Top Gun was released four years before either Andre or Seth were born. They may or may not be fans, but I think that those nicknames are more meaningful to many of us than it would be to current college kids.

From his Twitter, it seems obvious that he has taken to "Dre" and related nicknames. I've seen "Dre-All-Day," which is solid. It may not be unique enough, but "Dr. Dre" would be kinda nice, since Andre can carve up defenses. I liked the "Forgot About Dre" background music in the last DukeBluePlanet top 5 plays, but I would love to hear some "$&%@in' with Dre Day" background music the next time he blows up.

Babyface Assassin works for his kid looks and deadly shooting but I've the habit of yelling BOOM when he hits a 3.......but who needs an official nickname? Give him plenty--means he's doing something worth talking about (and he has been).

This seems the latest Andre-centric thread so I'm posting this here.

Through 17 games he's shooting 47.7% from the three. Pretty darn good. He would rank 9th in D-I if he had 4 more attempts. It looks like shooters have to have 90 attempts at this point to make the list and Andre only has 86. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/basketball-men/d1/current/individual/143

Likely based on a minimum number made per game - guess Andre hasn't made enough per game.

Gabe Rogers (3rd on the list) has made 44 out of 86 in 17 games. Dre has made 41 out of 86 in 17 games. So the minimum is between 41 and 44?

If the cutoff is 2.5 threes made per game, then yes. The minimum would be 43 makes in 17 games. I don't know if that really is the cutoff, but nobody on the list with 17 games has fewer than 43 makes. A cursory look suggests that they all also have 2.5 or more makes per game.

That was ridiculous tonight. Andre was fouled twice on three point attempts. Wood was fouled also one time that was not called but Andre's looked more obvious. He did a great job tonight slashing to the basket.
