Just heard on the new that Don Meredith has died. He was 72. Turn out the lights, the party's over...

I always enjoyed Dandy don in the broadcast booth. He had fun and it was contagious.

Yep. The clever country boy football star was a good counter to big city Howard, the legal eagle.

Someone this morning was yakking away that Monday Night Football was a big part of the growth of the NFL to being the dominant sport in America. I never thought of that. And, of course, when MNF began in 1970 there were only the three networks, PBS, and some independent stations airing reruns.

I find it amazing that Dandy Don never played a home game outside of Texas. He played high school, college, and professional football in Texas - all in the Dallas area, I believe.

RIP Dandy Don. 72 is way too young.
