As with the Kansas State game, a couple lineups shined - the starters, and the starters with Miles in for Kelly combined to go +29 - and everything else was somewhat flat (the rest of the team collaborated for -2, and only 7 of the 21 lineup combinations we used ended up in the plus column). Seth had a tough game yesterday from watching it, and the numbers reflected it, particularly from the defensive side of the ball - when he was in the game, Oregon scored 29 points in just 13 minutes. Also, Kyrie's impact both on defense and on press-breaking was notable - the team was -3 in his absence, and gave up 34 points in 13 minutes of play.

Tally one for the Bigs in the Bigs v Shrimps debate, no?

Tough game for Seth. Coming from someone who was unable to watch, it appears he's still struggling to find his niche on the team. Andre's dramatic improvement in play (and size for that matter) has only made this more difficult. It's been noted in the 'Bigs v Small' debates that a Medium line-up with Andre at the 3 seems to be emerging as one with a high ceiling, further complicating where Seth fits in the grand scheme of things.

It's still early and it's a great problem to have. He'll find his spot/shot.

The +/- numbers for the big line-ups match what my eyeballs told me during yesterday's game. Mason and Miles Plumlee and Ryan Kelly all played very good against the Ducks. I'm excited for Wednesday and the match-up with Michigan State. The Spartans have some size and are always a physical team so we should learn more about the development of front line players.

Curry, Mason, and Dawkins were all on the floor in the closing minutes, with Thornton and Hairston, during which time Duke was outscored by 5. Their numbers would have been better otherwise.

The effectiveness of bigger line-ups also matches up with the postgame quotes (http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22726&SPID=1845&DB_OEM_ID=4200&ATCLID=205038154) from the Ducks.

Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman
On the field goal percentage:
"As I mentioned before, their size gave us problems. There were a lot of baskets at the goal that we never finished. We also missed some free throws; it was not a good offensive performance."

Joevan Catron
On Duke's team overall:
"They're a real good basketball team. They definitely exposed some of our weaknesses. Their size was a problem for our finishes."
