Of all the games I've tracked (which spans 5 seasons now, even if it's the first posting here), I can't recall a single one where the starting lineup a) played less often together or b) was less effective relative to the team's success. Part of that was due to Kyrie's foul trouble (he went out 2 minutes into the game). On balance, this is yet another game where Coach K tried a variety of different lineups, only once throwing a repeat 5 on the court aside from the start of each half (and the repeaters combined to go just +1). The Dawkins at 3/Singler at 4 pairing was very potent in this game - we outscored Miami 34-6 across all of those lineups, accounting for almost all of the margin of victory. Since it's the topic of debate du jour, I'll just note that tonight we were +9 with Singler at the 3 and +26 with him at the 4 - almost a direct reversal of last game. And it was nice to see Mason's stellar outing reflected in the +/- numbers.

Just wanted to bold this part for the person who argued, No we didn't go small very long at all!

Well, first of all I would count a lineup with Hairston and Mason in it as "big," but more importantly, we went with 1 big + Kyle for 13 minutes. Period. This +/- analysis doesn't have anything to do with how long we went small -- it just shows the small lineup was very effective against Miami.

I am starting a new thread to discuss the relative productivity of the "big" and "small" lineups.

Thanks again pfr. It looks like we actually played 2 lineups twice. I'd copy and paste them but I'm on the BB.

This team has so many potential lineup combinations that work its really just unfair. I wonder if Kyrie hadn't gotten into early foul trouble if there would have been more repetition.

I'd be willing to bet good money that the starters will play extended minutes together to really establish some patterns before the Marquette game.
