Just got back from Cameron where students are assembling 1,000 Viking Helmets for today's game in memory of Line Monitor Drew Eversen who passed away a few weeks ago. His parents and brother, a Duke grad, will be in attendance for the game behind the bench. Drew, who wore a Viking Helmet to all games and posted on DBR sometimes, was involved in almost every aspect of Duke, debate, a comedy group, his fraternity, he wrote for the Chronicle, but his main passion was Duke Basketball. The gesture is meant to show that Drew will be forever missed among the Crazies..but never forgotten.

Just saw the front-row Crazies in helmets . . . what a wonderful gesture of sympathy as well as of solidarity and Duke spirit. THIS is what distinguishes us from "the others." GO DUKE!!!!

ESPNU featured a teaser of the Princeton game about 4:57; the shot featured Viking helmet clad crazies rocking out in Cameron. Way to go Crazies!

The actions of our student body were very appreciated by coach K as well (see watzone's press conference link); quite a tribute.

K also invited the Eversen family to visit the locker-room after the game.

Duke Blue Planet has a nice video tribute up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTMBnMZG67w) on this. Lots of Drew's friends recalling memories of him and his love of Duke basketball.
