Duke, which started at 8 to 1, is now the 7 to 5 favorite to win the national championship. That's heady. West Virginia, Butler, and Michigan State are the others in the top 4.

I'll bet on them and I don't bet, since this is last year's championship odds at the final four.

Notice anything about those four teams? That's right - it's last year's final four teams, and the link is to odds for the 2009-10 championship.

Well, now, don't I feel silly. Here are the current lines for the 2010-11 national championship. Duke is 5-1. I'm pretty sure this is for 2010-11 and not 1910-11.

Oh, in that case I'll bet on Duke by a rim shot.

Okay - I'm not a gambler, so I want to make sure I get this right. If I put up $5, I'll only get $7 if Duke wins it all?

Yikes, I think that's a terrible bet. If my math is right (and a quick monte carlo model suggests it is), that would mean gamblers are predicting that Duke has at least a 42% chance of winning it all.

(eta - i didn't follow the link, so didn't get your joke. whoops. Yes, I'd take that bet too)

That's only for last year's odds. This year Duke has odds around 5-1, meaning if you bet $5, you would make $25 if they win.

I personally put $100 on Duke to win at 6-1 and am pretty confident. I have already seen some sports books change Duke's odds to 3-1 already.
