David Trice (http://www.lostlettermen.com/football/ACC/Duke/David_Trice/p148457)lettered for the Duke Blue Devils in 1968, 1969. In those seasons, Duke's record was 4-6 , 3-6-1.

At least he was there for the famous "shoestring play" and a 17-13 victory over the Heels in 1969.

Pur-DUE, with the accent on the second syllable, sounded like DUKE. I recommend Phonak for Matt Charboneau of the Detroit News, or else diction lessons for Tom Izzo to get rid of that UP accent, or else a different mobile phone service.

There was once, way back in the 70s, a National Lampoon issue dedicated I believe to Purduke University. Then I think it added, "Go you wolverines."

IRRC Dave was the backup QB for Leo. I was at the shoestring game. I looked up and the play had started - catching all by surprise. Everyone around me was shocked and thrilled when 6 points went up on the board. There was a great deal of commotion and many asking what the "heck" happened. Quite a day.

To get back on topic, everyone knows that Travis Trice is a country/western singer.

All Woodall was supposed to be the staring QB, but he was dismissed from school. Leo and Dave shared the QB position until Dave was injured. Leo settled into the role quite well; Dave became the back up once he was well enough to return to action.
