Current score 27-20. COC is looking good. Or the twerps are looking bad...not quite sure.

COC is playing incredibly sloppy, turning over lots, and they let the twerps come back to tie at the half on a 9-0 run. Gary's guys are 1-7 from the line.

It would be nice to see Maryland lose at home in an early season tourney. I'd laugh so much if they couldn't go to New York...%&!@#! auto advance tourney rules.

This is interesting. I was just watching them show the brackets, and Md. plays #4 Pittsburgh next game. So I thought maybe I was watching a re-run. Nope...win or lose, Maryland moves on to get beaten up by the Panthers. What a wierd tournament.

What a wierd tournament.

It's similar to the CBE Classic...the top four teams (Duke, KSU, Gonzaga, Marquette) are all advancing to the semifinals, whether or not they win the first- and/or second-round games. Theoretically a team could go 2-2 and be crowned champions.

wow... Goudelock is playing out of his mind, but Maryland is really killing themselves by not making foul shots and TOs.

See why we don't open this thread so early?

C of C has no freaking clue how to use the clock, s hooting and trying to penetrate 10 seconds into a 35 shot clock constantly down the stretch.

Just unbelievable...does Bobby Cremins know how to coach in the end of games?

Way to draw up an end of game play Charleston.

I'm confused. I've been hearing for years about how that's *exactly* how a team with a lead should close out a game. You mean it might not work?

Heh. Let's just say that after an offensive board, with 3 minutes to play up 6, shooting a 40 foot 3 pointer with 33 seconds on the shot clock is not smart.

MD takes it 75-74 with a 2 point fade-away bucket by Pe'shon Howard with 4-5 secs in the game.

Looked like Gary planned a screen and roll for Jordan Williams, but he was covered well and the freshman decided to create some separation instead. Curious if the play was actually designed for Williams, as he was an atrocious 2-8 from the FT line including missing a potential game tying FT in the previous possession.

Gary lost a lot of sweat in this one.

At some points, Goudelock's shooting was too hot, and at the end of the game it was too cold. He needs to find an intermediate "just right" zone.

I thought the end of game scenario for CoC was one of the classic dilemmas in basketball. You just went down with 5 seconds left on the clock. Do you call timeout to set up a play. This dilemma usually only falls at about 5-10 seconds left. Any less and you need to call a timeout because you don't have enough time to dribble the length of the court, so you need to set up an inbound play to get the ball near half court, even if it allows the defense to set. Any more, and there is time to dribble to half court and call a timeout with plenty of time on the clock. Also with more than 10 seconds, it's a safe assumption that the defense will have time to set itself anyway. With 5-10 seconds, though, is it better to stop and design a play or let your team go and not allow the defense to set?

Obviously in this case, CoC didn't get a very good shot off, but I'm not sure they would have done much better off of a timeout.

Goudelock just made someone's college career relevant.
