With apologies to Wilbert Harrison, I will be going to Kansas City in two weeks for the CBE Classic. I'm getting jacked up to see the defending National Champions in action! I would love input on a number of things:
--scouting reports/matchups on Marquette, Gonzaga, Kansas State

--restaurant recommendations
--any other things to do in KC

I am so excited for the CBE since it will be my first Duke game. We went through priceline and are staying at the Hyatt. There are many good place to eat in the KC area depending on what you are interested in. http://www.visitkc.com/special-offers/dine-play-offers/index.aspx has some dine and play discounts including 20% off food purchases (showing your CBE ticket stub) to a couple grills and pubs.

Fiorella's Jack Stack -- Martin City Location (beans and ribs)
Oklahoma Joe's (everything)

Bourbon & Burgers:

Swagger (Try a Dead Texan and a glass of Pappy Van Winkle).

While I can't comment on the restaurants mentioned above, you HAVE to visit Arthur Bryant's, which is far and away the most famous KC BQ joint.

I just had Arthur Bryant's for the first time the other day. Food was good not great and the cleanliness at the original site was less than appealing. I hear the newer site is much cleaner.

Anything is cleaner than the Dairy Queen in Bowling Green, Ohio, and that is a fact.

I hear from a co-worker, who lived in KC working in advertising for many years, that two places of must-visit importance -- with regard to alcohol -- are the Bulldog Restaurant & Bar and The Boulevard Brewing Company (more of a tour/tasting thing, I think).

We'll be staying a few blocks away from the Sprint Center, at the Westin. I am very much looking forward to this trip. Haven't seen the Devils play live since Indy:) It doesn't old sharing that fact, either:D

I've lived in metro KC for 10 years and have never been to AB's on a day when it wasn't a little bit dirty. Haven't been to the new location yet though, so I can't really say anything better about it. I will say Arther Bryant's in general is overrated, IMO. If you're into vinegary BBQ then have at it. If you go, definitely try the burnt ends (best thing on the menu).

Oklahoma Joe's on the other hand is the real-damn-deal. It's less "show" than AB's but more "meat" in ever sense of the phrase.

We are staying just outside of KC for this one. I was shocked I couldn't find better hotel deal in the city. My plan is to get there early in the day in time to check out both BBQ places that were featured in "Man vs. Food", and "Food Wars". I heart me some BBQ ;)

I live in KC. There are plenty of good restaurants in the Power and Light District (across the street from the Sprint Center).

Steaks: 801 Chop House
Seafood: The Bristol
Sushi: Nara
Upscale American eclectic: Michael Smith and his neighboring Extra Virgin (19th and Main)

There are also a number of bars there, including the Flying Saucer (300+ beers)...

If you want to leave the P & L, head to the Country Club Plaza:
