A great competitor and one of the top surfers of this generation, 3 time World Champion Andy Irons passed away yesterday in a Dallas hotel room. Evidently he was battling Dengue Fever he may have contracted while surfing in Portugal. R.I.P. Andy. Your battles with Kelly Slater early last decade were some of the best surfing duels ever.

Probably some of the lamest news Ive heard in a while. Although I was more a fan of Bruce, AI did push the tour harder than anyone since Slater. Such a sad ending to a promising life. Fans who followed his recent struggles know its just not fair for him to go out like this. RIP.

tragic news....andy was a true legend. growing up at the beach, i grew up watching him and kelly slater tear it up. he'll be missed greatly :(
