View Full Version : Help with wording for a Duke gift...?

Hey all!

So as some of you may remember, I was a member of tent #1 a number of years back, along with a very close friend. We remained close for many years, living only 2 blocks from each other in NYC and watching every game together for many years after graduation... he even eventually introduced me to my wife!

A few years ago he moved out to California, and he just bought a home where he has an office totally decorated with Duke stuff. I actually am sending him a little housewarming gift; the 2001 and 2010 SI's from Duke's title wins, framed.

However, I need a little help with the plate that will be on them!

I was thinking something along the lines of...

A Devilishly Delightful Decade
Duke Blue Devils 2001-2010

... or something like that.

Any advice, DBRers? Getting the plate done tomorrow, so any help quickly welcome!:)

a decade of dominance, a friendship for forever. or just the first part. :D

I like that. Or even something simpler, maybe, for a small, sleek (I'm assuming) silver inscription plate.

A Devilish Decade: Duke Blue Devils 2001-2010 or Devil of a Time: Duke Blue Devils 2001-2010

Those don't vary much from yours, though.

Kind of works in the office gift idea.

Don't mean to be critical, and as much as I'd like to join ya'll, I'm not sure I'd consider 2 titles a "decade of dominance." In fact, reading the DBR Boards a few years ago when Carolina was dominating us, you'd think that we were in an abys we'd never dig out of. Funny how one championship changes an entire mindset.

Umm, check the total wins for 2000-2009. Most wins of any school in a decade. Ever.

I gotcha. Look, I'm as big a Duke fan as anyone, but I don't look at 2001-2010 as a decade we "dominated." That's an awfully strong word. I don't know what the stats show, but we were (or at least seemed) more dominant as a team from 1986-1994 (9 years) even if we had fewer wins during those years because of what we did in the post-season. I guess it's the perception of what we did in the Tourney from 2001-2010 that makes me skeptical.

Id say most wins in a 10 year span is dominate. tied for most titles in the last 10 years and most acc championships, and im sure we have the most NPOY also even though i dont have stats on that.
