Arrrgh...this will be fun...and frustrating. Hard to choose from all the categories. I'll give up to Irving as best passer (and assists per game). I'll give Dawkins best breakout year. The others I'll have to think about...a lot.

Yea I love doing these and reviewing them at the end of the year to see how wrong I was and what I would change. I do this every year for football

How do you suggest we judge these totally subjective categories? For example, who was the best passer on last year's team? Who was the clutch shooter? Who was the leader? Who was the most vocal?

Its just who you think will be the best by the end of this year. Its all opinionated (not sure how that is spelled).

Like you don't compare your answers to us. You pick who you think will be lets say the most vocal guy for the team. Well lets say you pick Kyle Singler and by the end of the season you go back and see that you picked Kyle and turns out that you thought Kyrie or another new guy turned out to be a more vocal guy come april or may.

For the subjective awards, why don't we have a DBR vote (before the official awards are presented at the banquet).

(Note: I realize that the whole point is to have some fun and see how many you can guess right. Not criticizing that in any way, just wanted to point out something I found interesting.)

I don't think that this exercise can really be filled out in a meaningful way, and I think that is definitely a good thing. For every positive category, there are multiple outstanding candidates (except for assists... maybe). In each case, you could make a convincing argument for several players. Who will eventually earn these distinctions? We can't know for sure just yet. But that just reinforces what we've known for several months: This will be yet another fantastic season.

Just for the fun of it, I'm going to go into a little more detail on some of my predictions. Kyle over Nolan for the lead in scoring because Kyle gets to the line more and I expect Kyle's fg% to improve more from last year.

Miles for rebounds because he'll spend the most time in the low post and already had excellent defensive rebounding stats from last year.

Kyrie for assists, for obvious reasons.

Kyrie for steals because he'll probably gamble the most of all of our players, resulting in more steals and probably a few more times out of position.

Mason for blocks because, like Kyrie, he'll gamble the most and will have some spectacular dunks coming from the weak-side . . . and he'll also have a few plays where he'll be spectacularly out of position.

Turnovers: Thanks for the clarification, Duke: A Dynasty. Kyrie for sure because he'll have the ball in his hands so much and he's a freshman.

Nolan for best defender because he's experienced, talented, and will be guarding the opposing team's best perimeter player on a regular basis. I'll qualify this by saying that Kyle is an underrated defender and may spend equal time guarding the opposing team's best player.

3pt. Percentage for Andre because he will probably be a specialist whereas Nolan, Kyle, and Seth will shoot off the dribble and late in the shot-clock more frequently, dropping their averages just a bit.

Miles for FG% because his shots will mostly be dunks or wide open 12 footers. He won't shoot unless he's completely open.

Just an early update on the season so far. Remember the season is still fresh and provided only a small sample size so far and some of these categories are subjective to your own opinions.

Who will finish this years team on top in each category? We can comeback to this at the end of the year to see how right/wrong we were.

Most Per game:
Points: Nolan Smith 16.8
Rebounds: Mason Plumlee 8.5
Assists: Kyrie Irving 5.8
Steals: Seth Curry
Blocks: Mason Plumlee 2.3
Turnovers: Nolan Smith 3.8
FT attempts: Kyrie Irving 4.3

Who do you think will lead in the following categories by years end (min 8 minutes per game)?

Best:
Defender: IMO it is Kyle or Nolan but I will give Kyle the edge so far for his performance against Pullen.
3 pt percentage: (Minimum 20 attempts on the season) Dawkins is shooting 55% which is best out of those who shoot regularly.
FT percentage: Kyle Singler 95%
FG percentage: Mason Plumlee 62%
Passer: IMO Kyrie
Leader: IMO Kyle
Clutch shooter: IMO it is Kyrie or Nolan

Other:
Biggest breakout year: IMO so far it is Andre
Best off the bench: IMO Andre
Best/Most vocal player: I have not seen any games live and it is hard to hear them communicate through the tv but it looks like Kyle or Nolan.
