Fun post. I had a great time listening to each call on the list.
I think the thing that made Lundquist's call of The Shot so good is his ability to allow the moment to speak for itself. Many announcers would feel compelled to keep talking to try to make their commentary match the greatness of the moment. I love the fact that Lundquist shouts "Yes!" and then sits in silence.

It was great to see and hear the replay. Usually it is done without sound. I didn't realize that Verne Lundquist, who is a fellow resident of Steamboat Springs, was on the call. I can't wait to ask him about it.
The other question, of course, is whether that play was more thrilling to him than Tiger's chip-in on the 16th at Augusta in 2005. "Oh my," our man said, as the ball -- with the Nike logo centered -- fell into the hole.

'Of course, Verne gets a lot of work. He told me he had broadcast 13 games with Tim Tebow as Florida QB.'
