Don Larsen pitched his perfect game of Game 4 of the 1956 World Series on October 8th. In 2010 the 4th game of the World Series is scheduled for October 31. This is a warm weather sport that could have its biggest games played in cold weather.

It would seem that baseball could fix the problem if it wanted. Some ideas:

1. Start the season earlier and play the early games in domes or warm weather locations.
2. Have each team play a few day/night doubleheaders.
3. Reduce the season.
4. Reduce the off days in the play-offs.

None of these by itself is the solution but taken together they could knock 3 weeks or so off the schedule.

Baseball's plan seems to be to ignore it, pray that warm weather teams play in the World Series or hope for global warming.

who claims it's a warm weather sport?

High Schooll baseball starts on Feb 1. Even in NC, that's not warm weather. My senior year, we spent most of the pre-season in the gym because of snow, ice, or just coldness (30s).
