It slowed me down too when you and DA were no longer drafting. Now I have to rely on the draft of Jumbo.

Which is the REAL board?;) I like to think that the OTB is the MOST real board. Shoot, isn't MTV making a season about us in The Real Board?;)

I have my normal posting frequency on the EK forum during the offseason. dukie8 has a good thread about former Duke track & field folks trying to make it in the Olympics. I've also been following the Nick Horvath news. And you can bet that I'll post if there's any Patrick Davidson news.

I'll PPB post rarely when St. Louis pops up, or when there's off-beat political news, or when Shammrog prods me.

No DA ... I'm still an OTB'er.

Shoot. If the Tour de France comes up with any more doping withdrawals, I might get into EarlJam's numbers.;)

I like to the think the OTB is the most real board too. Your average DBR poster visits the Elizabeth King forum first. Maybe others are above average :D or everyone saves the best for last.

Looking over your shoulder;)?

The furious posting was just Saturday as we are OOT, the computer was mostly free, the view is great and I really have no other responsibilities until we journey home tonight and have to check with reality (work) again.

No particular milestones are on the horizon as 2500 is still a lot of PW'ing away:o:D. (there, I admitted it [again])

I don't know if there's a good answer on that.

When Ymo and I were drafting, we each sort of fed off the other. It was a lot of fun. If I go a week sans l'ordinateur, I may experience those days again.:)

Since there is no definition of drafting, I can say that I am drafting behind the bearded one. On the other hand, I am not keeping pace and drafting behind EarloftheJammeth.

I do think to draft properly, there has to be some intersection to the posting, in other words in at least some of the same threads. It doesn't need to be a post for post match...IMHO.

I think there's also an element of timeliness involved, but I don't think the boundaries have really been set on the delay between the initial post and the drafting post, and when that's "drafting," as opposed to just replying.

Since I'm on the West coast and 3 hours later, I feel like I'm nearly always out of the draft.

Part of the success of the DA, Ymo, Lavabe draft earlier this summer was that DA could lead, I'd wake up with my sleeping disorder and post a reply, and then Ymo would post at his normal 5-6AM slot. IIRC, I wound up leaving the draft as BDJ started posting furiously on the soccer thread.

Am I mistaken or is that devildeac approaching DA? Hold on folks. This could be some serious drafting!

There are some player landmarks between 820 and 1000, but I cannot recall which ones. (some with total rebounds and some with points and perhaps a PG not named Hurley with lots of assists) Post 1000 is All ACC, honorable mention, IIRC, and then each 500 more earns you 3rd/2nd/1st teams All ACC.

I don't know why you would not post randomly on occasion. It's not like that NEVER goes on around here. (cough, cough :o)

Salutations, weblog reader. I hope you are reading this at home and not during working hours because this weblog entry has nothing to do with your job, unless you are an anime scholar, sexual education expert, cultural examiner with a focus on bizarre sexual matters, or a marine biologist. If you do not hold one of these jobs, please stop reading and continue in the privacy of your home where your time belongs to you. You may also proceed to read this if you are self-employed, but that is a slippery slope.

As you are well aware, I am interested in the representational arts of Japan, most specifically manga or, as it’s more commonly known in America, anime. While purchasing some new reading material recently, my manga got mixed up with another customer’s items and I ended up with several titles that I did not originally select. At first I was incredibly upset at the idiot behind the counter who let that happen. It makes sense that he’s working retail. Real salesmen don’t mess up orders. After fuming for a while, however, I was reminded of something Grandpa Mannheim used to say: “When life gives you lemons, find a way to turn those lemons into a profit, even if it means donating the lemons to charity in order to get a tax write-off.” I decided to use the misplaced manga to enrich my knowledge in general and discover some new artists and writers. This turned out to be a mistake.

The comic books that the other gentleman was purchasing were of the “hentai” sub-genre. Hentai is disgusting. It is Japanese comic pornography and it is completely inappropriate. What disturbed me most about this man’s choices were that they were exclusively of the shokushu goukan variety. For those not familiar, shokushu goukan is the Japanese term for tentacle rape. These comics feature Japanese women getting taken advantage of by octopi. I truly do not understand their appeal. Octopi are, by their very nature, non-sexual creatures. After they reproduce, both the mother and father octopus die within a matter of months. What’s sexy about that? To chronicle the sexual nature of an octopus is as pointless as trying to find a beet weevil in December – it’s just a waste of time.

As I was perusing the contents of the various shokushu goukan comics, I kept happening on the same plot. Woman loves sailor. Sailor goes out to sea. Sailor is killed by giant octopus. Giant octopus rapes woman with its tentacles. This plot doesn’t make any sense. It paints giant octopi as if they’re these terribly vindictive creatures, not content to just kill sailors, but also to seek out and infiltrate their women. What do the Japanese have against octopi? What did octopi ever do to the Japanese besides providing a tremendous amount of nourishment in the form of tako sushi? It baffles me. It angers me. It saddens me.

The mighty octopus should be respected, not depicted as some horrible marine rapist. If you need to demonize a sea creature, make it the horrendous jellyfish, which provides not jelly but dangerous stings. I found out firsthand when I was taken to a beach on the shores of North Carolina in my youth. I have yet to return to an ocean beach.

Over the weekend, I will be returning to the shop where this terrible comic literature entered my possession. I will be exchanging it for my favorite manga: Ranma 1/2, the story of a teenaged boy trained from a young age to be a martial arts master, who is cursed to become a girl when splashed with cold water, but returns to male form when touched with cold water. Currently, the reason that it’s my favorite manga series is that there are no horny vindictive creatures with tentacles in Ranma 1/2 and that’s good enough for me.

This marks the end of today’s weblog. Fight Octopi Misrepresentation!

You get to be a named player now and then, I think based on some numerical significance. ( I don't know what that is though) At some number, you will get off the bench however. This number is more concrete, and each stage takes longer to get to than the last. I think I was Jason Williams yesterday for one post. (I don't care what "Jay" thinks, it's Jason....his mom said so)But I'm gonna be a "sixth man" for a while longer.

A Bench Warmer is in the low 100's # of posts. Casey Sanders had 120something career blocks (I doubt it was steals, rebounds, total points or assists and I KNOW he had more PF than that:o;)). When you have your next post beyond a player milestone, you revert back to Bench Warmer, In the Rotation, etc. Early on in the "whatever" thread, there are several lists of early milestones. Or, you can go to goduke.comstatsgeek or something like that to look up ALL players stats for their careers.

Ooh, "boys"-I get a promotion:o:D (growing up, my father, brother and I were commonly and not-so-affectionately referred to as the 3 Little Pigs by my Mom)

We can blame you then for starting our little spat (;)), 'cuz if you had said, "thanks, Dad", I probably would have sheepishly replied, "just reminding you, dear," and gone about my evenings activities.

If you notice, I omitted (intentionally) the top 4 posters who appear to be "untouchable." Bluedawg may not be at this time of year, but during hoops season, s/he posts furiously, kinda like Jumbo, who, like I said, is just now getting "warmed up" on the EK forum. Heck, it's only August and posters over there are attacking each other as if they were on the PPB:o;).

I believe the gap between levels within a category is fixed. For example, each All-ACC is 500 away from the next (right?). If that holds, AA status should be by 1000s. I'm kinda hoping that after 1st team AA you get your number retired or turn into Coach K or something.

I believe there are no other records left. JJ is all time Duke and ACC scoring leader (for now) and I do not recall any other individual milestones as bb whizzed his way through the 3000's. This week we move on Saturday. Next week, we close on our house Monday, paint on Tuesday, & the movers bring stuff on Wednesday. I left Atlanta at 3AM this morning, and drove up here in 5 hours 10 minutes. After I got up here and did my work, I took the car to the repair shop. Turns out I drove up without more than a few drops of clutch fluid. I figured once I got on the highway this morning, the clutching wouldn't matter. I was right ... barely.

It's a whirlwind.

I did like driving in the Smokies at sunrise. Gorgeous!

Any idea what happened with EarlJam and the nail gun?

Seriously, I went to bed about MN and did not set the alarm for 230 AM (yea, deport me:rolleyes:). I am "on call" for the weekend so no alcohol fueled posting frenzy like some other chatters and posters:o. Lo and behold, I get a phone call at 330 AM and, honestly, it was quite an inappropriate call but after the call, I just happened to wander downstairs and turn on NBC and, quite surprisingly, there was a basketball game being televised so I hung around and watched as it looked rather interesting. I avoided Snrubchat just so I can have an excuse to post. Devildownunder had his broadcast preempted by news so posted the occasional update. Most other sources didn't have real time scoring(with mine being delayed a few minutes) I just got done trying to recover from the 24+ hours with no sleep that I just had(okay a couple short naps).
