Chris Dudley was anything but a joke in the NBA. There is no doubt that he couldn't shoot, even, and perhaps especially from the free throw line. Nevertheless, every team that he ever played for, especially the New Jersey Nets benefitted immensely from his presence. He was a great defensive player and nobody ever worked harder on the court than he. If not for the tragic death of Drazan Petrovic, the Nets who's two best assets at the time were arguably Dudley and Petrovic were well on their way to becoming a legitimate contender.
