Leon Wright never made it to the Giants' camp since he didn't pass his physical, and now the Giants' fans won't be able to watch Ayanga Okpokowuruk. He was cut on Friday. http://www.sportspagemagazine.com/content/fb/mp-fb/ln-mp-fb/giants-waive-ingram-and-okpokowuruk.shtml?41226

That leaves Thad Lewis, Vincent Rey and Vince Oghobhaase with their NFL dreams still intact.

I haven't found anything on Oghobhaase yet, but Vincent Rey has had a couple mentions on the Bengals' site.

Of course it's still early, I hope all three are still playing when the preseason rolls around..I would expect we'll get to see a decent amount of Thad in the first game.

Makes you wonder...is the UFL going to sort of act like a minor league eventually? I imagine the rosters will be made up of young guys hoping to make it in the NFL and older guys who can't start in the NFL that still want to play. It'll be interesting to see if Vince jumps to the NFL after a few years. Maybe he got an offer from them that was better than he would get as an undrafted free agent with the Dolphins?

Hmmmm is right!

From what you’ve seen so far (not assuming one of them will make the team) who is better, Jeromy Miles or Johnny Sears? Sears had a nice interception today and Lewis lauded him as one of the three undrafted free agents who has impressed him so far (LB Vincent Rey and RB Cordera Eason are the others).

Look for Vincent Rey on TV tonight when the Bengals take on the Cowboys. Here's a preview from the Cincinnati side.

"• Speaking of undrafted rookies, linebacker Vincent Rey and cornerback Johnny Sears have had a good start to camp and look to have solid games."

There was one play -- a punt return -- where Vincent dove to the left and appeared to grab the ankle of the returner and bring him down. It was a really athletic play by Vincent, although NBC didn't show the replay, even though the returner was injured. (Imagine if Vincent had been able to get both hands on him.)

Vincent seemed to play the entire second half and at least some plays in the first half.

FWIW, Dallas merely toyed with the Bengals. Romo played only one series, which led to a chip shot FG. The Bengals are potentially formidable with both Ocho Cinco (am I really going along with this conceit?) and TO at wide receiver but scored only after a long punt return in the final minute .

Eron Riley played last night for the Baltimore Ravens. He recorded one tackle on special teams, and was thrown to once on offense, but the pass was short. Unfortunately, former Heisman winner Troy Smith really struggled at QB when Eron was in.

Ack! I totally forgot Eron was still in the NFL, albeit on the practice squad. It would be great to see him suit up on Sundays.

I was at school in Ohio the year Smith won his Heisman, and I've always liked him (I'm not a Buckeye fan in general). Hated that he got sick right when he might have had a chance to get some game time in-season his first or second year, I'd like to see him stick somewhere, even as a backup.

As far as Riley, hopefully he works his way up to being a contributorin a few seasons...I don't get the impression that he is there quite yet but I think he's still worth keeping around, at least for practice.

What I'm really looking forward to is the Rams game...I'm hoping Thad gets at least a few snaps. Should be fun to see if V. Rey has another big performance in his next game too.

Almost time for real football to start!

Looks like Thad only played one series, but at least he made the most of it. 5/6 for 46 yards, finishing with the best yards per attempt of 7.7, and the second most yards total (Bradford had 57 total yards, but on 6/13 passing). Wish he had been able to play more, after those numbers I hope the coaches wish he had played more as well.

Yeah, pretty good showing. Sure, its only preseason but the fact that he did it at all is a pretty good sign.

I'd like to salute CBS-4 in Denver (NOT!) for making sure that I get to watch every play involving Vincent Rey. It cut away from the PGA championship to the Denver-Cincinnati NFL preseason (!) game at 5pm local time with the apparent leader and last twosome on the 18th fairway, headed for a dramatic finish and a playoff.

I was really into the PGA tournament and soon found that Channel 702 on DirecTV was carrying the golf telecast. Take that, CBS-4!

That sucks, they could have waited and you still could have caught every play he was on..from what I could tell he didn't join the fun until late in the game..but made the most of his time with 2 solo tackles and one assisted...Vincent was up top again in numbers. One of the pregame blogs called him a "tackling machine". Gotta love it.

Thad is looking pretty good so far...6/7 for 68 yards and a touchdown, plus 1 9 yard run...hopefully he gets more burn this game, I wish it was on TV here so I could watch for myself!

Plus I think this came against the 1st team defense for the Pats!

Thanks for the update Acy...I haven't been able to watch any of the Rams games..I was hoping with Directv I would be able to. At the very least they would be really smart to keep on the practice sqaud..if they were smarter they will give Null the boot.

Edit...The NFL channel will have the game replay at 11 tonight.

I'm irritated at "watching" this on GameCast, too. But Thad's numbers are good. I'm hoping his playing the third quarter means the third QB spot is his to lose, behind Bradford and Feeley (in whatever order the Rams decide).

I think you are right. That's big that he came in first after Bradford. Obviously Freeley is hurt, but Thad is on the field and Null isn't.

Thad threw an interception, but they did bring him back in on the next series. Currently he's 11 for 14, 120 yards. One TD, one pick.

So I see Null is in. Thad has a nice rating, even with the INT. (All QB's throw them, even the ones we love!)

Been watching the replay of the game. Thad IS TOUGH! Not like we didn't know that, but it's nice to see everyone else know that too. He's been clobbered a couple times just to drive lead the Rams again for a first. Love it. Go Thaddeus!

UM wow Thad played great! That was way fun to watch. He should have had 2 TD's, but for some reason they ruled his second with the runner after the catch OB. Damn ACC refs!

HOW MUCH WILL VINCENT REY (NOT MAUALUGA) FACTOR? Bengals undrafted free agent linebacker Vincent Rey (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/108549/Vincent_Rey) is a 6-foot, 240-pound muscle of linebacking madness. He comes in with a great work ethic and a Duke career spent as a wrecking machine, recording 330 tackles -- including 28 tackles-for-loss -- during his three-year starting career. Dude has a nose for the football. His 13 preseason tackles ranks second behind Geno Atkins (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/108655/Geno_Atkins), most of which have come during passing plays and on special teams. He has largely impressed Marvin Lewis, who will have to debate how many linebackers he's going to take into the regular season.

Thad is putting pressure on the 3rd QB selection for the Rams.
http://www.stltoday.com/sports/football ... bcc0f.html

And what Lewis, an undrafted rookie out of Duke, is doing is putting some heat on Null, the Rams' sixth-round draft pick a year ago who because of injuries wound up starting the final four games of the 2009 season.
"That's a good battle going on," coach Steve Spagnuolo said. "We're going to need another game to let it play out. I thought Thad did a nice job to help himself" in the Rams' 36-35 victory at New England on Thursday.

Expect to see a lot of Thad this Thursday night. Also Vincent Rey continues to impress in his bid for a roster spot on the Bengals' team. Last game he had 4 tackles, one solo. I believe he only played the 4th quarter, so that's pretty nice.

Thad will be playing tonight in the last preseason game. It's at 8 on channel 384 if you have DirecTV. They are playing Baltimore, so look for Eron Riley, too! (Although don't know if Eron will play)

Thad played well, finishing 6/8 with 89 yards, good for a QB rating of 150. He got one TD off a screen where one blocker took out a pair of defenders. IMO, his preseason preformance has been better than Null's, which should get him a roster spot. I'd guess that Feeley will be the backup due to experience, forcing Thad to deal with the idiotic third quarterback rule.

Eron also got in with a pair of catches, but went down on the second-to-last play. He didn't appear to have twisted anything or landed funny, so hopefully it was just cramps.

Rams win by 6 as Thad plays part of 3rd & all of 4th going 6-8 for 89 yards & a 26-yd TD throw.

Eron caught 2 for 33 yds in the last drive for Balt.

They dragged Eron off the field by his butt. (Or his trainer was copping a feel.) It was odd because the catch was solid and he was on his feet. Thad looked good, but then again Null did too. The Ravens' defense blew chunks in the first half. Null threw one INT into double coverage. It was a fun game to watch, that was it for the preseason. Best vibes to Thad to staying on the roster!

Maybe Thad can get traded to the Charlotte Panthers - they STILL don't have an offensive TD this preseason, scoring only 3 points in there loss Thursday night.

Just to change the subject a little...

NY Giants signed Okpokowuruk to a reserve/future contract today. He was on the Giants' practice squad for the last two weeks of the 2010 season. He was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Giants on April 25, 2010.
