Weird. Some of those weights are definitely outdated...

I know this happens (almost) every year, but it's going to be really weird seeing someone other than Jon out on the floor wearing #30.

There's some BEEF on that roster!

Our SMALLEST player is Seth Curry at 6-1 175.

Kyrie is 180 lb. (what is Henson at?)

Even Ty is 6-1 and 185!

The Plumlees are bulking up to 230 and 240.

My favorite? Kyle at 230! Poor HB won't be a Happy Hairson trying to keep Kyle off of his spot!

Excuse me? You say this squad has more speed than strength? And it appears stronger than last year's NC squad?

This could be a fun year!

You think that they will try out another walk-on. I can't remember the last time that we entered the season with only 12 on the roster. It won't mean much other than during practice, but that's still pretty important.

Well, beef isn't exactly the term I'd use for this team. I'd guess we're in the middle of the pack in terms of height-adjusted weight. But we aren't going to be pushed around, either. That's certainly true of Singler, who will be among the biggest and strongest at his position.

If you sort over to the roster for 09-10 Kyle, MP1 and MP2 are the same weight as last year.

When I spoke to colleges about my own basketball recruitment last spring, most have their walk on tryouts like right when official practices start I believe if I remember correctly

I count a 9-10 man game-day roster, available game in and out. 3-5 NBA players. It's hard not to be optimistic.

Interesting that Curry is still listed at 6'1" when it was reported a little while ago that he had grown to 6'2". I guess some of these are a little outdated.

I'd be interested to know who you're counting as the NBA players, or if you are only speculating as to those who might be in the NBA after this season. DraftExpress.com is projecting Kyle, Kyrie, Nolan, and Mason as first round picks next year (would this be the second best day in Duke history?), and I'd say Seth, Miles, Josh, Ryan, and maybe Andre are also valid pro prospects. But I agree with your sentiment, it is indeed hard not to be optimistic.

I think those numbers will be updated as we get closer to the season. There are a few inconsistencies...

Uhm, the 2nd best day would be if we won a 2nd championship in a row and a couple of those guys announced they were coming back for another year. The best day in bball history would remain the day that Coach K signed his first Duke contract.

Yeah, they just took they numbers from last year for everyone.

According to measurements from this summer, Kelly is up to 232 and Kyle is up to 237, and I'd guess Miles is probably 245-250. I'd also guess Mason and Andre will have gained a few pounds since last summer, and I swear Hairston was weighing in around 220 a few months back.

My wild guesses on the final roster updates:

Miles Plumlee 6-10 250

Mason Plumlee 6-10 235

Ryan Kelly 6-10 235

Kyle Singler 6-8 235

Josh Hairston 6-8 220

Andre Dawkins 6-4 195

Seth Curry 6-2 190

I think (although cannot swear) that the other poster was making a sarcastic reference to John Calipari, who called this year's NBA draft the greatest (or 2nd greatest) day in Kentucky basketball history.

Although I won't swear as it is against my morals I'm positive he was referring to Cal's statement. And just for clarity, Cal said it was the greatest.

A former team manager who became a walkon midseason last year.

I heard that a clone will be arriving on Campus from an experimental compound on a remote South Pacific island in the late Summer. Reportedly this clone is called, Davidson 3.0.

I don't think he was ever a manager...unless I missed it. He practiced with the team from the onset as a freshman and officially made the roster in December of last year.

This is correct. Todd was a practice player and joined the team after Olek transferred. He's a true sophomore this coming year (and apparently a very nice guy from my friends who lived in his dorm).

Sorry for the ambiguity; yes I was referring to Cal's statement. And since Duke has already had 4 players selected in the lottery of the 1999 draft, that would have to be the greatest day in Duke history, with the upcoming draft potentially being the second.

IIRC from a story I read a few weeks ago (Maybe it was the Jay Williams interview?), Coach K has not had a #1 before. But said something to the effect of waiving that rule for Kyrie because he is that good.

This is the video I was thinking of. It mentions it around the 2 minute mark, but does not give a reason of why he was allowed to wear #1.

Actually, only 3 players in the lottery. Back in '99, there were only 13 lottery teams.

I think UNC is the only team to have 4 players selected in the lottery (2005)
