Every other day or so there seems to be a new picture with a trivia caption attached to it. However, I rarely if ever know the answer and would love to learn but there is no link to find out. Please provide the answers on the front page or as a thread in the forum for me and the rest of us non-educated noobs who have only been following basketball for the last 10 years or so.

Yes, that's got to be Wes Unseld--though I think of him as being with the Washington Bullets, which is where they were when they won the NBA championship with Wes and Elvin Hayes. Hard to believe now that the Bullets/Wizards could ever have won a championship.

I agree with the poster who asked that answers be posted. Often the questions are answered in a comment thread, but it might be nice to get some more info.

Unseld was only 6'7" tall, but he was also 6'7" wide and 6'7" thick. You couldn't get around or through him. A solid player in every respect.

Today's entry looks to be Earl the Pearl Monroe from Winston Salem St. days although I've never heard the black Jesus reference before. I'm really enjoying this series of pictures of "vintage" basketball greats.

Yes, indeed. And for a time with the Bullets was Jack Marin's teammate.

Yes ... Black Jesus was Earl "The Pearl" Monroe. As I understand it, he got the nickname because fans thought he would lead his team to the promised land, aka, a championship!!

Looks like it, just based on the type of stone and the type of column . I should know better - I pass that thing several times a week.
