Old team posters from mid 1980's and early 1990's. All hardback press guides from 1980's and 1990's. A bunch of newspapers and magazines from the 1991 and 1992 championship seasons. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this type of thing on here or not. Maybe it should be posted in the "Off Topic" thread. I'm not sure. If someone can confirm, I would be more than willing to list everything I have.

My son has loved looking at the Durham Herald-Sun 2010 National Champs Edition. He asked me to see if anyone would had any newspapers either Raleigh News & Observer and / or Durham Herald-Sun from 1991, 1992, 2001 and any more from 2010.
My wife and I are teachers so any help in price would be appreciated. My little boy's birthday is coming up and would love to have them for him.

How about a 1992 National Championship Coke Can? Also have 1992 Sports Illustrated championship issue, 1991 SI championship issue, 1992 preseason Dick Vitale magazine with Laettner on the cover, 1992 preseason Sports Illustrated with Laettner on the cover, and 1991 Special Edition Duke Chronicle. In my opinion the best present for your son that I have is the 1991 team's poster entitled "Young Guns". It has the whole team(Laettner, G Hill, Hurley, etc.) dressed in cowboy attire. It's mounted on poster board and in perfect condition. I have the newspapers somewhere too, but I need to search for them.

Do you have any team posters from 86-89?

I have the 1984-1985 team poster "The Right Stuff" and the 1988-1989 team poster "Encore". The "Encore" poster is mounted on poster board.

I have a Duke record (LP) put out by NAPA Auto Parts in the early '80's. Side 1 contains songs about Coach K and side 2 has songs about football Coach Shirley "Red" Wilson. It's a real hoot...sort of country. Contact me if you'd like more info.

My son had that poster framed above his bed. Actually, it's still there. He took the framed, signed by all the players 1999 team poster to college/grad school with him. Someday, he'll have the Duke tribute man room and be able to display it again.

I had a can of that "True Blue" soda from 1992 for years. Eventually, it developed a small hole and leaked some pretty foul looking blue liquid all over my bookshelf. I guess the only consolation is that I didn't actually try to consume this beverage. A friend of mine did; needless to say, he immediately regretted the decision, and not because he had ruined the collector's value of the item.

Does anyone know if any of the following are going to come out to commemorate 2010 (these items have appeared in the past):

1. Books by Duke and/or K about the season?
2. The Final Four floor?
3. A CD about the season from the Blue Devil ISP Sports Network, including the call of the entire Butler game?

The coolest thing I have is the 91-92 hardcover press book (the one with Laettner and Davis holding the Natty), signed by the entire team, Hurley, Laettner, G. Hill, etc... with a personal note from assistant coach Tommy Amaker. Tommy used to come to a Drug Store I owned in East Durham (Crabtree Pharmacy for those of you who may remember it) to get orange aides and sandwiches, he also lived in a town home next door to my best friend so we are friends or at least acquaintances. We still keep in touch, I send him well wishing notes and he always takes time to reply, he is a GREAT guy. Funny story about the book. I always get one of these books from my brother in law for Christmas. I already had that book, when my best friend sent me one while I was stationed in Adak, AK. I did not even look at it, since I had read the other one. In fact I almost gave it away to a friend and probably would have, had I not called my friend to thank him. He asked if I liked it, and I was polite but not exactly excited about it. He pressed a little, and I confessed that I already had a copy, but didn't want to admit to it, in order not to hurt his feelings. Needless to say, he said I needed to look at it, well.... you know the rest of the story.

Anyway, the book is NOT for sale, and the only thing lacking is Coach K's signature, which is my quest.... one day it WILL happen. I have heard that you can send stuff to the Basketball office and they will sign it, but no way that book is leaving my possession. I will have to carry it to a signing or something one day.

When I was in grad school I lived right next door to the house where Christian Laettner, Brian Davis, and Thomas Hill lived during Christian's senior season. I never talked to Brian or Thomas much but Christian came over a few times for neighborly type things. Once to get some help hooking up the cable TV, and once to borrow a cheese grater. He was actually very nice in person, though even at 6'1" it was a neck-crimping experience for me to have a conversation with him- he was _really_ tall.

He was a good neighbor though, never caused any problems for anyone. He and Brian bought some sweet Mercedes at the end of that year- they were living large.

All of this is irrelevant I reckon, but I just wanted to interject that those 1991-92 stars were decent folks (to me at least) regardless of what you hear in the press. Christian does still have my cheese grater (surely he never ditched it), but I think just being able to tell people for the last 20 years that Christian Laettner has my cheese grater has been worth more than the grater every was. Good times...
